  • Cozy, comfortable cottage

"This cottage is just the place for a great week at Madawaska Lake. We found it to extremely well equipped from the kitchen all the way through to the bedrooms. The main living area opens right out to the lakefront and a large yard for sunbathing and relaxing. There are games and books available if you choose to indulge in a quiet afternoon or evening. For the active vacationer there's a canoe available, trails to hike, bike and mountain bike. All in all we had a very enjoyable vacation."

  • A lucky find on VRBO!

"This is a beautiful spot, with a back yard that slopes gently down to a dock on a small estuary that curves around a tiny island. The view of Cross Lake beyond is expansive and wonderfully peaceful--the only watercraft we saw (mid-week) were a few kayaks and some ducks feeding near shore. The cottage is at the end of a private road with a few other cabins on it and it feels very secluded and private. It is spotless inside, with comfortable beds, a sunroom with windows looking out on the lake, and a very well-supplied kitchen and bath. Some of the highlights of exploring the area were seeing the Acadian Village in Van Buren with 17 restored buildings full of fascinating interiors, old objects and furniture, and ingenious milling and farming machinery; buying vegetables at an Amish farm stand; and seeing fields of pink, white and purple potato flowers and bright green buckwheat. Everyone we encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful, including one of the caretakers whom we met. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone and would love to come back someday!"

  • Rustic Tranquility

"Frank and Bonnie's Lake Pleasant home is a rustic haven with all the modern amenities needed to make for a relaxing vacation in a secluded spot deep in the woods of Maine. The large kitchen, comfortable living area, and deck with birds-eye view of the water all combine to provide a sense of tranquillity and being away from it all. Prepare to be charmed by a long drive down a winding unpaved road with breathtaking views only to be matched by the beauty that you'll find at the end of the road where Frank and Bonnie's cabin awaits. Be sure to bring all your food and supplies with you upon arrival as you will not want to leave this little oasis. If you're looking for the company of humming birds, chipmunks, loons, woodchucks, and the like, this is the spot for you. With a spring-fed crystal-clear lake at the foot of the property and a kayak and canoe to explore, campfires by the water, and great views of Birch Point's weekend fireworks, the unique experience of enjoying this home cannot be compared. Trekking up and down the 60+ stairs between the lake and the house is a terrific workout and you'll end your vacation with stronger legs then ever. Frank and Bonnie have thought of everything to make visitors feel at home while their agent, Alison, is terrific at managing the property. Thanks so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home!"

  • The pictures don't do this cabin justice. You have to be here and see it for yourselves!

"My second year in a row has already become home away from home. 1 week in August 2011, and 1 week in 2012. This cabin is extremely neat, clean and very well equipped. A great home base to use for outdoor activities/exploring, and an excellent place that makes you want to stay right there. Don't forget to canoe to the very far end of the pond! Many thanks to Mary and Scott for making me feel at home, on Plunkett Pond."
