"Here's the ultimate compliment we can offer to a vacation destination -- we liked it so much we came back. We spent a week here in July 2014 and just completed a week in June 2015.
It's all about the breathtaking setting right on the Atlantic. This is a place to get away and relax. We spent hours sitting on the deck, enjoying the views, and reading. Each morning we watched the men and women in the lobster boats check their traps. Bring binoculars -- although the lobster boats can be so close to shore you may not need them. And if you're a stargazer, you'll very much enjoy the dark skies (in June and July the Milky Way was perfectly visible just after sunset).
It you need or want additional entertainment, Acadia National Park is 1 1/2 hours south and FDR's summer home on Campobello Island is 1 1/2 hours north.
And full disclosure, the nearest restaurants and supermarkets are a 20 minute drive. However, the lobster co-op is only 10 minutes from the cottage.
This is a very special place if you want to enjoy nature and the out-of-doors."

"This is my second time staying at the WaterColor Cottage, which I loved the first time, when I was with my brother and nephew, and I loved it this time, too! The first time was during a
heat wave a year ago, and still it was more than comfortable. This year the weather was idyllic and the cottage is rustic without being primitive, artful without being fussy, and everything was lovely and comfortable. For conscious and conscientious people. A true retreat."

"First off, had great communication with Phil (owner). After we booked he sent out a welcome packet with information on the area, places to visit and eat. This Jonesport/Beals vacation house makes a great "base camp" with day trips we took to Lubec/Campobello, Eastport and Bar Harbor. The house was very clean and comfortable with a million dollar view. I work nights and was always up around 3am.....this was perfect to see the lobster boats heading out for the day with the majestic sun rises starting up over the islands and reach. Our day trips ended up running into the late evening so we always found great places to eat in Machias or Ellsworth on the way back from our day tripping adventures. We did manage to get one order in at the the Bayview drive up .....totally worth it! A must stop on the way to Jonesport/Beals is the Old Creamery Antique mall in Ellsworth especially if you have an hour or 2 to kill before check in time. I was stationed here 25 years ago and area hasn't changed much since then let alone the last 100 years? I would definatly stay here again and can't wait for my next trip back!"

"This beautiful cottage was designed and built by the owner Ray and his wife. It is open and airy and even better than the pictures. The cottage was perfectly cleaned when we arrived and stocked with everything that we needed for our stay. Ray greeted us as we pulled up, let us unload our gear, and then came by to tell us about the cottage, and the area. He really went the extra mile for us, and that alone is a major reason to recommend this cottage. There is a second cottage on the property that the owner use, so they are generally there if you need them.
The cottage is located across a two lane road from the oceanfront, and a kind neighbor lets you cross his property to access the rocky beach. In the morning you can hear the lobster boats going out.
During our first couple of days here, we did not feel the need to drive anywhere. There are two nature areas within an easy walk from the cottage, and the walks provided there kept us occupied.
Bar Harbor, Lubec, and Corea are all an easy drive away for outings. There is also a good grocery store, and a great Mexican restaurant in Milbridge.
Don't expect your cell phone to work here, and the provided wi-fi was pretty weak. But, you can walk up to the entrance of the hike up Pigeon Hill, and you will get cell phone data access."
