  • Highly Recommended!

"Phenomenal vacation spot! The cottage is so pretty and clean and fresh, the deck is so relaxing, the yard is so huge, the view is so phenomenal, the water is so beautiful and the owners are so warm and friendly and accommodating! Jim and Sue have created an oasis in this quaint and peaceful cottage, minutes from the grocery store and delicious restaurants! :) We highly recommend the hike to Pigeon Hill and Jim's whale watching boat trip!"

  • WOW - what a wonderful cottage!!!!

"My two sons and I enjoyed a lovely week at Sea Smoke. The place was perfect for our small family. We purchased food at the local grocery, had daily breakfast and about 1/2 of our dinners at our home away from home. The cottage has a stove, oven and microwave which handled most of our cooking and an outside grill, which managed the balance. Millbridge has a few yummy restaurants and of course we had lobster more than once. When we were not exploring Acadia National Park or hiking, the boys enjoyed Flat Bay by going swimming, kayaking or just walking in the mud (when the tide was completely out). We also relaxed and started a puzzle, watched some movies or just read a book or two. The cottage and the entire atmosphere of this portion of Millbridge was just to laid back, it was easy to "chillax". An occassional nap for mommy was not unheard of. The stress of the prior work week melted away and we had a fabulous trip. The boys cannot wait to return again in future years!"

  • Obvious that the owners go out of their way to ensure their guests have a wonderful stay

"It is a beautifully renovated house with lots of modern features and details from the heated floors in the bathrooms to the modern updated kitchen. The owners were generous in providing everything we could possibly need in the kitchen, laundry, linens, towels - and all in practically new condition. From our past experiences renting homes, this is rare. It is obvious the owners make the extra effort to ensure that their guests are comfortable and have everything they need for their stay. There was even fresh fire wood placed in the fire ring out back waiting for us! Every room in the house is furnished and decorated in a way that invites you to want to stay and linger. Every window in the house has a view. Every bedroom has a view of the water. The back two bedrooms have the most amazing views overlooking the water right from your bed. Imagine waking up to incredible views of the sun rising over the water every morning, or just lying there in the middle of the day thinking you might take a nap but finding that you just can't stop taking in the incredible panoramic views. Every bed was comfortable, including the top of the line sleeper sofa. The only shades on the main level are for the three windows that surround this sleeper sofa in the corner of the room. It was all that was needed. Our elderly family member who has mobility issues said it was an exceptional sofa bed and well designed bathroom. Our elderly family member even found a chair among the comfy seating area to be high enough and supportive enough from which to maneuver in and out easily. The house sits right in the middle of a working fishing community and just feet from the edge of the water. It also sits very close to nearby houses, working docks and a tidal lobster pound facility. Despite the close proximity to these things, it was very quiet and we felt like we had plenty of privacy. Only the birds in the morning were loud. Our elderly family member loved being entertained by this quiet activity near the house when the rest of us left for hiking adventures. Often we never heard the neighbors head out on their fishing boats (it is that quiet!). Sometimes we could hear the church bell tolling on the hour. We loved it all. Definitely takes you to a different time and place - and this beautiful house made us want to stay forever. Owner also provides lots of recommendations on where to eat, go, see and do... (all good!)"

  • Spectacular views & history!!

"Enjoyed every second exploring this wonderful property. My husband got with a couple of locals who offered to bring him fishing. He had such great time he's making plans with the gentleman on our next trip out here. Our teenage girls had a blast! Having wireless internet at night kept them busy with the latest gossip so their not missing friends back home. Our 2 little boys Wolfie and Lil bull LOVED sampling everything that washed up. It was their first time to a beach not a lake house and they played all day long. We also had the chance to meet the most adorable seal we named Peeper! The 5 days we stayed here he would always swim near us while on the row boat. One day he got so close he spooked us and himself. It was such an incredible feeling and experience we will remember. The house was gorgeous and spacious. The pics don't show how extremely beautiful all the views are. I loved the history in the house between the photo books, art by Ann Rhodin through out the house, and the Bongo board has been placing lots of smiles and heart filled memories for 50 yrs. We all had a great vacation. Would suggest one thing, maybe place a private property sign at the beach where rose path leads to the house. Some locals must use the trails at the house so if your a group of women or have kids playing in yard while your at the beach you might feel a little uneasy. I'd like to thank the Rhodins for letting others enjoy this oasis and Donna for always getting back to us."
