  • Best ever!

"As frequent visitors to Maine, we have rented many cottages from Wells to Winter Harbor. The Cottage by the Sea was by far the best equipped with all we needed to enjoy seafood and the wonderful world of Downeast. The cottage fulfilled our every need. Very comfortable and serene!"

  • A wonderful time

"We enjoyed our stay so much. Listening to the surf late at night and early morning, the sun warming the kitchen table, people walking, jogging, and picking up sea glass and the seagulls soaring over head. I did a lot of painting of the islands and boats. We just love it there."

"We stayed here the last week of September 2012. The house was readied for us -fresh flowers from across the street were on the table when we came in. The house is so warm and inviting. The back porch was a delight--even in this cooler weather we ate most of our morning and evening meals out there. We walked every day to this point and met many of the locals who were so warm and friendly. Before we got there the owners sent us 5 pages of suggestions on where to go - where to eat- where to get the best fresh lobster --place to hike. We followed it almost to the letter. It was so wonderful to have these suggestions!! Maine tourism could use their suggestions. We mostly definitely would come again!!"

  • Lovely vacation home with spectacular views!

"We stayed at Mary Jims Point for our honeymoon in October. The home was very clean and inviting and was equipped with everything we could ever need. There were condiments in the fridge, varied spices and cooking/baking supplies, plenty of clean towels and linens, spare toiletries in the bathrooms, etc...I could write an entire review of what the house was stocked with alone! We were also provided with a list of local businesses and where we could expect to find what we needed as well as how much we could expect to pay which was very helpful for our seafood purchases. The grounds were just breathtaking and we were delighted to have our choice of rocky or sandy beach to stroll and search for sea things! On the shores, we were able to find driftwood, sea glass, an assortment of medium sized shells, urchins, as well as small crabs. The gardens were still in bloom when we visited which made the outdoor scenery very pleasant. Bob and Marshia were wonderfully helpful and accommodating, we were able to visit for a short time and we were just delighted to meet such wonderful people. The locals were also well acquainted with them and had funny stories to share with us! We loved visiting with Stanley and Gilbert down at the wharf on Beals Island. We did some hiking and some exploring in the downtown area where we quickly became known as "the honeymooners". Everyone was friendly and quick to offer help or chat for a bit! When we arrived, most things were closed up for the season which gave us plenty of time to get to know the areas least known "attractions". We visited Maine Sea Salts, which we loved and stayed for almost two hours talking with Steven "the salt man" about...not salt, but lobster! We went to downtown Machais and found plenty of shops to tour and places to see and enjoyed meeting Connie at her Clay of Fundy store. The home is also located right off of rt. 187 where there were farm stands, little shops, and even a working organic farm to visit. We were thankful to have such a wonderful home and wonderful pair of hosts to help us have such a wonderful honeymoon! We can not wait to meet again!"
