  • Spectacular views & history!!

"Enjoyed every second exploring this wonderful property. My husband got with a couple of locals who offered to bring him fishing. He had such great time he's making plans with the gentleman on our next trip out here. Our teenage girls had a blast! Having wireless internet at night kept them busy with the latest gossip so their not missing friends back home. Our 2 little boys Wolfie and Lil bull LOVED sampling everything that washed up. It was their first time to a beach not a lake house and they played all day long. We also had the chance to meet the most adorable seal we named Peeper! The 5 days we stayed here he would always swim near us while on the row boat. One day he got so close he spooked us and himself. It was such an incredible feeling and experience we will remember. The house was gorgeous and spacious. The pics don't show how extremely beautiful all the views are. I loved the history in the house between the photo books, art by Ann Rhodin through out the house, and the Bongo board has been placing lots of smiles and heart filled memories for 50 yrs. We all had a great vacation. Would suggest one thing, maybe place a private property sign at the beach where rose path leads to the house. Some locals must use the trails at the house so if your a group of women or have kids playing in yard while your at the beach you might feel a little uneasy. I'd like to thank the Rhodins for letting others enjoy this oasis and Donna for always getting back to us."

  • Nice cottage and nice area for exploring the coast of Maine

"We visited in August and had a nice time enjoying the house and the area. We highly recommend both. This house was as advertised - simple, clean, and pleasant. The caretaker was kind, responsive, and helpful. From the living room and the patio there are excellent, close views over the bay. With the thick evergreens and birch tree stands on either side of the property, you can't see the neighbors making it serene and private. The house offered a good value and we were pleased and surprised that despite the rural location we still had a strong signal from Verizon for our phones and for the hot spot internet connection we have for our laptop. The area is quiet and relaxed without the crowds of Mt. Desert Island/Bar Harbor, but still close to them. We visited Bar Harbor for a full day and we enjoyed seeing it. However, we appreciated being able to leave the crowds and return to peaceful Seasmoke. The Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park is nearby. It is beautiful and uncrowded. Walking along the ocean side road is easy with nice hiking trails as well. We loved it and returned the next day with a picnic to enjoy along the rocks. Quoddy Head lighthouse is nice, but take the coastal route through Cutler which is scenic. Nice walks there. The lighthouse was the best of the ones we saw on this trip. We did a lot of walking around the house and animal watching. It was a nice walk to the end of the peninsula, and we seldom saw a car. We saw bald eagles, porcupines, foxes, deer, a seal, and many birds. We also did a boat tour with Robinson's from Milbridge. Excellent and we strongly recommend this in good weather for a beautiful tour of the bays and islands. The town has a good grocery and a few small places to eat. We enjoyed the Mexican take-out restaurant, 44 North for a simple diner dinner, and the Fisherman's wife for sandwiches. The Milbridge House was cheap and good for breakfast, but closed for dinner. We grilled burgers and seafood on the patio two nights. There are several places you can buy fresh seafood that comes right from the town's fishermen- Tibbits was one. In summary, a very nice vacation in a scenic, quiet area with plenty of sights and activities within an hour of this pleasant little house by the water. We would recommend it."

  • Very Nice Cottage and Owner

"This beautiful cottage was designed and built by the owner Ray and his wife. It is open and airy and even better than the pictures. The cottage was perfectly cleaned when we arrived and stocked with everything that we needed for our stay. Ray greeted us as we pulled up, let us unload our gear, and then came by to tell us about the cottage, and the area. He really went the extra mile for us, and that alone is a major reason to recommend this cottage. There is a second cottage on the property that the owner use, so they are generally there if you need them. The cottage is located across a two lane road from the oceanfront, and a kind neighbor lets you cross his property to access the rocky beach. In the morning you can hear the lobster boats going out. During our first couple of days here, we did not feel the need to drive anywhere. There are two nature areas within an easy walk from the cottage, and the walks provided there kept us occupied. Bar Harbor, Lubec, and Corea are all an easy drive away for outings. There is also a good grocery store, and a great Mexican restaurant in Milbridge. Don't expect your cell phone to work here, and the provided wi-fi was pretty weak. But, you can walk up to the entrance of the hike up Pigeon Hill, and you will get cell phone data access."

  • Secluded and Relaxing

"My wife and I came to the cabin for a week this July with our two big dogs. The water temp was perfect and the dogs ran off-leash the whole time. The entire time we only saw one person on our end of the lake. It's a great place to unplug, unwind and enjoy Down East."
