"We spent a week at Seacliff this year -- our first time in this part of Maine, and further north and east than we'd ever been in the state -- and this was a perfect get-away. The cottage is perfectly situated right on the coast, and we spent two gorgeous days kayaking from the cottage, took day trips to Eastport (for whale watching and hiking) and Lubec ... also down to Ellsworth and Blue Hill (for the last day of the Blue Hill Fair.) We had everything we needed at the cottage ... the kitchen was really well-equipped, and we spent plenty of evenings just relaxing in the house. Bill and Mary were wonderful hosts, even providing the BEST homemade blueberry pie for us upon arrival."

"What a great place! The pictures and description of the house were as advertised, maybe better. The owners met us upon arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. They were excellent to deal with at every step of the rental process including the prompt return of our security & pet deposit.
We brought our miniature schnauzer with no issues. She was able to use the fenced in yard allowing us to not have to put her on a leash every time she needed to go out.
Our three children, ages 11-16, loved hanging out, climbing on the rocky coast in the back yard and playing board games left by the owners. The television has a satellite connection and was perfect when we wanted to use it. The WiFi was adequate for our needs, but if someone wanted fast connection speeds they may be disappointed.
This home is truly secluded which we thoroughly enjoyed, but make no mistake, it is secluded. The nearest store of any kind is 15 minutes away by car. The owners directed us to the nearest fishing dock (10 min drive) where we went on two separate occasions to buy lobster and clams. The house is very well equipped for all of your cooking needs. The washer and drying worked well allowing us to catch up on laundry during our long road trip. The deck overlooks the water and is a perfect place to do nothing. The home, both inside and out, has lots of places to sit down with others or by yourself. Doors and windows all have screens allowing a wonderful breeze to move through the house.
Acadia National Park is about 1 ½ hours away and worth the drive. Plan to spend a full day if you decide to make the trip.
We did not use the two apartments on the property but they are right next to the main house and would be perfect for a larger gathering."

"My family stayed at Life on the Ledge and we had an amazing time! The house is absolutely gorgeous beyond what the pics show online. Jim and April were so helpful, kind and patient with our questions and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great vacation. Both are quite knowledgeable on the history of the island and graciously gave us a boat tour of the area. We have rented through VRBO for quite sometime, and I can honestly say this was our best vacation ever! The location is breathtaking! I highly recommend visiting Maine, and definitely recommend Life on the Ledge. You can sit outside watch the lobster boats and enjoy the simplicity and beauty of your surroundings, hike the island or visit so many great places nearby. We visited Jasper Beach, Rogue Bluffs State Park, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, Acadia National Park (amazing!,) and Lubec but the greatest highlight was returning to Life on the Ledge everyday."

"I found this to be an EXCELLANT place to relax and enjoy the ocean view, sit and read,or enjoy hiking. We went to the salmon festival in nearby Eastport, walked about in town, and rock climbed, even with my 82yr. old mom.
We even found it enjoyable in hazy or overcast skies. You can hear the ocean and see loons, seals, eagles and ducks."Oh" and a friendly porcupine."
