  • A Wonderful Time!!!

"WOW!! That sums it up! We had a wonderful time and wish we could have spent more time here. What a relaxing place. The trails were fantastic! The views spectacular. Yes, there was fog, and it comes and goes, which only adds to the beauty of this place. Tons of pictures to be taken, on site!! Sleeping with the windows open, especially for us from the hot, drought hit area of the country, was very welcomed. And hearing the splashing waves on the shore was wonderful to hear as we fell asleep each night. The cottage is secluded, but there are wonderful day trips to enjoy! Our favorite was Campobello. We should have reserved more time to spend there. And the Little River Lobster Company is a must!! Just around the corner in Maine-speak (OK, a 10 mile round trip)! We actually walked down to the dock, and they pulled our fresh lobsters out of the water. YUM!! The cottage is stocked to cook and enjoy them there. A wonderful time. And a special thanks to Julie and Mike, the caretakers. The BEST!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!"

  • Secluded and Relaxing

"My wife and I came to the cabin for a week this July with our two big dogs. The water temp was perfect and the dogs ran off-leash the whole time. The entire time we only saw one person on our end of the lake. It's a great place to unplug, unwind and enjoy Down East."

  • everything we hoped for

"Stayed here on this beautiful and quite cabin during our honeymoon. We saw a pair of kingfishers and a bald eagle while kayaking (on the kayaks provided) and tons of hummingbirds from the kitchen table. My new husband caught a sizable small-mouth bass within 5 minutes of casting out from the dock. When we decided to venture out, we were 20 minutes in either direction from the adorable towns of Lubec and Machias. If you plan to visit Campobello Island, which is a bridge away from Lubec, remember to bring your passports. Kate, the property owner, was friendly and accommodating. We are eagerly anticipating a return trip."

  • Obvious that the owners go out of their way to ensure their guests have a wonderful stay

"It is a beautifully renovated house with lots of modern features and details from the heated floors in the bathrooms to the modern updated kitchen. The owners were generous in providing everything we could possibly need in the kitchen, laundry, linens, towels - and all in practically new condition. From our past experiences renting homes, this is rare. It is obvious the owners make the extra effort to ensure that their guests are comfortable and have everything they need for their stay. There was even fresh fire wood placed in the fire ring out back waiting for us! Every room in the house is furnished and decorated in a way that invites you to want to stay and linger. Every window in the house has a view. Every bedroom has a view of the water. The back two bedrooms have the most amazing views overlooking the water right from your bed. Imagine waking up to incredible views of the sun rising over the water every morning, or just lying there in the middle of the day thinking you might take a nap but finding that you just can't stop taking in the incredible panoramic views. Every bed was comfortable, including the top of the line sleeper sofa. The only shades on the main level are for the three windows that surround this sleeper sofa in the corner of the room. It was all that was needed. Our elderly family member who has mobility issues said it was an exceptional sofa bed and well designed bathroom. Our elderly family member even found a chair among the comfy seating area to be high enough and supportive enough from which to maneuver in and out easily. The house sits right in the middle of a working fishing community and just feet from the edge of the water. It also sits very close to nearby houses, working docks and a tidal lobster pound facility. Despite the close proximity to these things, it was very quiet and we felt like we had plenty of privacy. Only the birds in the morning were loud. Our elderly family member loved being entertained by this quiet activity near the house when the rest of us left for hiking adventures. Often we never heard the neighbors head out on their fishing boats (it is that quiet!). Sometimes we could hear the church bell tolling on the hour. We loved it all. Definitely takes you to a different time and place - and this beautiful house made us want to stay forever. Owner also provides lots of recommendations on where to eat, go, see and do... (all good!)"
