  • Great "away from it all" vacation!

"Our family (5 adults and 6 kids under the age of 10) enjoyed our summer stay in Lakeville. The home and location were great for our big family. We were afraid that 1.5 baths would be a challenge but it worked out fine and we had plenty of room both inside the house and outside. The lake is a short walk from the house and the kids enjoyed picking blueberries by the lake and playing in the water. There's lots of woods to explore and my boys enjoyed the "hikes" we went on. Lakeville is a good distance but yet central from the "touristy" areas but we did take a few day trips. Acadia (about 2-2.5 hours), Eastport (about 2.0 hours), and Bangor (about 1.5 hours). You'll want to buy your groceries before arrival as it's about 45 minutes to a grocery store (in Lincoln), but once you're settled, you have everything you need for your home away from home! Bob and Debbie were great to work with and we couldn't have asked for better "landlords"! Our only complaint was we didn't get to see a moose! :)"

  • The Perfect Vacation Spot

"My husband and I cannot say enough about our wonderful experience at Pine Point Cabin! Words fail! This cabin and its secluded location on a beautiful lake provided the peace and rest we craved, and everything we needed was right there. We enjoyed the little town of Lincoln, and we also enjoyed outings to the shore and to Moosehead Lake. We took hundreds of photos--many right at Pine Point--trying to capture the many moods of lake and sky, as well as the brilliant fall foliage. We hoped to capture a picture of loons, but they were elusive! Thankfully, we did hear them in the evening, calling to each other across the lake. Many thanks to the owners for making this property available to vacationers like us!"

  • Weekend Getaway

"The stay was absolutely wonderful. We saw a few Hawks, partridges, chipmunks, deer, and squirrel. Unfortunately there were no moose sightings but we did see quite a few tracks. The stars at night were incredible and the crisp cold air made it perfect for campfires. The whole place was incredible and so peaceful. Thank you for allowing us to stay and we can't wait to come back."

  • peaceful, easy feeling

"Rustic, comfortable cabin in the woods. The lake is right there with its beautiful dock to swim, read, and enjoy the view. Kayaks and canoes were available. The house is cozy and well-furnished (full kitchen, fridge, hot shower, two plush Lazy-Boys, linens included for the beds). There is no electricity per say-- propane lamps and candles were the main source of light in the evening, along with the wood stove inside and the stars in the sky by the lake. Best family vacation!"

Eating Options in Maine Highlands Cottages

When you stay in Maine Highlands cottages, you have the option of cooking a meal in the full kitchen or eating out at a restaurant. Most of the Lakeville vacation rentals make feeding a large family more affordable because food can be purchased at Mill Stream Grocery and stored in the refrigerator. However, everyone knows that eating out is part of the vacation experience, so you will want to find a restaurant that can blow your family's socks off. If you want to get some really good food, then take your family out to eat at Somethin's Brewing. It is a café that is housed in an old library building which gives it a unique charm. The architecture of the building is unfamiliar to restaurants and will give your family a memorable experience.

Lakeville Lodging for Outdoor Activities

Lakeville lodging offers access to a lot of outdoor activities that are fun for families. Drive down to the Atlantic Coast for some fun on the beach. There are lot of different marinas and excursion options available once you get there, so there is no need to plan ahead.
