  • Privacy! - spacious open home with windows galore

"Terrific house for our extended family with plenty of living space for everyone. Our 3 dogs were in heaven. We loved the open feel of the house - everywhere windows. Everything was very clean, beds were comfortable, comfortable furniture throughout. Dennis was easy to reach, happy to answer as many questions as we had. He as immediately accessible when we had trouble logging into the WIFI network. We spent a part of each day at Knights Pond just down the road. It was an unusual combination of total privacy yet easy access to Belfast, Camden, etc. We particularly enjoyed Belfast. Thank you for such a great getaway!"

  • Great secluded cabin and close to the fun

"We had a great stay in the lodge with our one year old daughter. The home is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and the large deck in great shape. The owner was nearby and able to answer questions and was very friendly and warm. He takes great care of the home as well as the surrounding area. This lodge is great because it's totally secluded (our daughter slept better here than in Brooklyn!) yet it's only about a 10 minute ride from all that Boothbay has to offer. The only upgrade we could think of would be a bigger comfy couch that we could all curl up on together to watch a movie."

  • Spectacular location

"Good stuff first. We stayed here with my family as sort of a reunion. My Parents, my sister & spouse, my brother & spouse. The house only sleeps six and they are VERY firm about this. No squeezing people in on the couch. That being the case my husband and I stayed with relatives until my brother left (they were only with us part of the week) We moved over on Tuesday. The house is situated on a cliff and views of the ocean are stunning and the house is designed so that you are able to see the ocean from not only the living room(sliders that open onto a deck)but also the master bedroom. the sound of the waves crashing on the cliffs below is deafening. Spent mornings drinking coffee on the deck and If you are up early enough, you will be able to see Lobster boats pulling in traps right in front of you.At night with a glass of wine is even better. Coming home I can honestly say that I missed the sound of the waves very, very badly! We had the good fortune of spectacular weather (only one day of fog) and being able to view many sunrises and moon sets over the water, Gorgeous! I cannot stress enough how healing and magical it is. There is a wood burning fireplace (buy your own firewood) We took advantage of the fireplace on the foggy day and it was very relaxing to have a "stay in" day with a nice fire, it took the chill and the damp out and we enjoyed some old movies. One of the bedrooms has a small library with a nice selection of Books. I will recommend "Lighthouse Horrors" for some good old fashioned scary stories (Perfect reading for being in Maine on vacation with the sound of the waves in the background)The ocean is accessible by means of a steep path to the left of the house & there is a rope rigged up to assist you getting down to the cliffs, spent many hours just laying on the rocks and sunning & reading. Do not advise swimming here as the waves and the currents are too strong. Now the bad;The living room furniture needs updating. It is comfortable but worn. The dishwasher turns on at random, the dryer was not in good working order,TV is ancient &Flat screens are so cheap nowadays. No excuse not to update especially for over $2000.00 a week. The guest bedroom queen mattress needs replacement, old and probably one of the most uncomfortable mattresses my husband and I have ever slept & we traveled all over the world, (all of Europe) They need to update this mattress! Other then this id recommend this property."

  • A Wonderful Week to Remember!

"We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Buttercup cottage! Clean, comfortable and roomy with an outdoor deck overlooking beautiful Linekin Bay. Plenty of linens, kitchen utensils, pans etc made our stay quite comfortable. We picked up lobsters/steamers from the local fish pier on two nights and had everything we needed to cook them at the cottage and enjoyed our feast while sitting on the deck! The bed was quite comfortable. Although there is no A/C, we enjoyed the cool breezes off the bay in the evening. There are two fans available if you should need them. We brought our kayak and were able to bring it across the street to Barrett's Park and kayak all around the bay. The cottage is within walking distance to town, maybe a 10-15 walk. The owners couldn't be nicer and were happy to point out all the great local places to visit. Their recommendations for dining were spot on! We had a wonderful week exploring Boothbay Harbor, New Harbor, a day at Monhegan Island, kayaking to Burnt Island light house, Maine's Botanical Garden and the many hiking preserves with well marked trails nearby. Don't forget to go to Wiscasset and lunch at Red's Eats. An awesome lobster roll experience!! The lines start early, be prepared. Buttercup had all the comforts of home. The eclectic decor was fascinating and tastefully thought out and displayed. Each day, I'd notice something that hadn't caught my eye previously. We would highly recommend a stay at Buttercup. We look forward to a return visit in the future. There's still much more exploring of Maine's mid coast to do."
