  • Can’t get enough of this rental!

"I’ve been to this spot multiple times and with different configurations of people (with family, with several other couples and with girlfriends). This Knickerbacher Lake rental property in Boothbay is everything it is purported to be in the property description. It is beautiful, private, serene…and it caters to every whim. It has accommodations for every need, whether the main house for a family or multiple couples, a romantic cabin in the woods, and a “clubhouse” offering flexibility for overflow accommodations with space to play or hangout, and a dock for swimming, kyacking and loon watching! It’s also centrally located. Moments away we’ve found the best lobster roll in town (Trevett’s Store), a show-stopping botanical garden, even recreation on the Sheepscot River (where you will want to kyack to see the seals). And Boothbay Harbor, no more than seven minutes away, has great shopping, eating and art galleries. This property has allowed us to daytrip to Rockland, Camden, Wiscasset, Freeport (HQ to L.L. Bean!), Portland, and Monhegan Island. Two of my pals even trekked to Acadia National Park and back in a day! Deciding what to do first is the biggest problem at this lakeside retreat!"

  • A gem!

"The Hope Cabin is really quite remarkable. It is so well designed, so thoughtfully put together, and so artfully decorated that you don't feel that it's compact. Instead, it has an expansiveness and a connectedness to the outdoors that makes it a perfect cabin in the woods for those who want to get back in touch with nature. The kitchen is actually very easy for two people to work in (provided they work well together!) and there's just about everything you'd need to prepare a full dinner, as we did on a number of nights. The living room is quite comfortable with a fabulous rocker, too. And the bedroom has two skylights through which you can see the stars at night and the dawn in the morning. The front deck is great to hang out on and watch the deer and wild turkeys and birds in the field - even a bald eagle fly overhead. In short, the cabin is a gem. And we had a great week there in August. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it to friends and family in a flash."

  • All That You Can Imagine & More...

"The Lodge is a beautiful, peaceful place to vacation. The house has everything that you could want for your pleasure and convenience, from a wonderful kitchen and amazing great room to a screened porch and two docks to launch a kayak or canoe, or just sit and take in the beauty of the lake with its loon, great blue heron, eagle, and shimmering light. We used the travel and trail books in the house to explore the area beyond the lake. The wonderful town of Damariscotta with its great food and book store is minutes away, and there are many trails and hikes nearby to explore the rivers, ponds, and harbors in the region. Where else can you readily kayak on a lake AND walk the coastal shoreline, all within thirty minutes of one another?! We look forward to returning..."

  • 4 old friends having a reunion.

"Beautiful! This house provides a place to find serenity and contentment; to de-stress and relax. One week is not long enough. The owners represent the best in hospitality. The attention to detail in the house is amazing. Can't think of what we needed that wasn't provided even when the owner had to make a special trip to get it. The beds are comfortable, views are spectacular, location is convenient to Port Clyde General Store and 2 restaurants. Rent a kayak and cruise the coastline. Sit on the deck and watch the ducks, eagles, hummingbird, and herons. Smell the salt air mixed liberally with the beautiful roses. Can't wait to come back."
