Arden house cottage
"We had a lovely stay at the carriage house. Everything was just as it was advertised & in great condition. If we had a question we called the property caretaker & he was right there to take care of it. The Dock was a lovely place to sit & the grounds were very beautiful. Thank you for making our vacation so lovely we had a wonderful time.

"This is a perfect place to unwind, relax, etc. As mentioned in other reviews, the location to town is one of the main features that attracted us. Close enough to walk everywhere, yet far away from the hustle of the shops and restaurants. I loved the huge window facing the ocean inlet, hearing the foghorn blow, feeling the breeze through the windows in the evening, and the view could not have been any better.
I took advantage of the roof deck, reading in the afternoon sunshine, and just watching and listening to the birds and boats. This is the most relaxing spot we have been to recently. I would definitely return...the restaurants are wonderful, the surrounding areas are a lovely drive. We spent a morning at the Botanical Gardens, on the recommendation of a friend, and enjoyed it immensely. A little hard adjusting to city life again, but there is always next summer to look forward to!"

"The Lupine cottage, was more than we expected. The inside is well decorated and cozy, we fell in love with the view from the deck. It was a short walk to the harbor, and all the shops and restaurants. We would recommend the Lupine cottage to everyone. We hope to revisit again soon."

our family LOVES life on Knickerbocker Lake, nearby Boothbay Harbor
"Our family of 12 (ages 8-80) has enjoyed week-long sojourns at this quiet, private lake-side retreat for many years. The kids enjoy swimming in the lake & exploring the lake via kayak. We love hearing the loons at night. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (although a new stove/oven would be very nice!) and we prepare most of our meals together; a trip to the lobster pound is a daily experience. The Botanical Garden is a treasure & we take side trips to nearby attractions such as the aquarium and boat rides in the harbor. On our way north, to Boothbay, we stop at Whole Foods in Portland in order to stock up on fruit, veggies and things we know we cannot get at Hannaford's . We do our 'big shop' for staples at Hannafords south of Boothbay. The local Hannaford store, in Boothbay, is adequate and there is a farm store close by where we buy corn and other veggies. Linens are supplied and we put used sheets and towels by the washing machine before we depart. On occasion there have been minor problems, such as a toilet that needed fixing, and the owners were very quick to call a repair person. We all appreciate having wi-fi at the house and it is very pleasant to sit on the porch, overlooking the lake, when doing email or just relaxing. We take our ipod with us as there is a 'dock' so we can listen to 'our' music. Our adult children and their husbands take turns sleeping at the 'love shack' down the hill towards the lake - its nice to be be able to sleep in while on vacation. We highly recommend a week or two or three at the Knickerbocker Lake Retreat"
