  • Would definitely recommend to everyone!!!

"We stayed at the Cedar Cottage and it was great!! Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 kids and it was very clean! The owners were very helpful throughout the renting process from start to finish. Thank you again Paula for telling us about going through the canals on the lake, they were awesome! So much to do and not enough time to do it in. From swimming to fishing to boating it was just an all around great experience. The owners were very thoughtful in asking if the property could be mowed and were willing to work around our schedule so we wouldn't be bothered with it. The lake is beautiful and clean and we loved the little beach area. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a carefree vacation spot with plenty to do!"

  • Artsy getaway very private

"Azure Teal was a charming place for staying near Boothbay Harbor. We live in the mountains and there was lots of woods around us, so we felt right at home. There was even a nice trail that our host created in the woods behind the house. This was a pet friendly rental that was great for our dog Tanner, he loved exploring and we loved having him with us on vacation. Our host had some great art work and touches that really connected to the earth, and we would definitely vacation there again if we come back to the area. The only complaint is that the house wasn't spotless, I believe we left it cleaner than when we arrived, but all in all, a great place to stay!"

  • our family LOVES life on Knickerbocker Lake, nearby Boothbay Harbor

"Our family of 12 (ages 8-80) has enjoyed week-long sojourns at this quiet, private lake-side retreat for many years. The kids enjoy swimming in the lake & exploring the lake via kayak. We love hearing the loons at night. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (although a new stove/oven would be very nice!) and we prepare most of our meals together; a trip to the lobster pound is a daily experience. The Botanical Garden is a treasure & we take side trips to nearby attractions such as the aquarium and boat rides in the harbor. On our way north, to Boothbay, we stop at Whole Foods in Portland in order to stock up on fruit, veggies and things we know we cannot get at Hannaford's . We do our 'big shop' for staples at Hannafords south of Boothbay. The local Hannaford store, in Boothbay, is adequate and there is a farm store close by where we buy corn and other veggies. Linens are supplied and we put used sheets and towels by the washing machine before we depart. On occasion there have been minor problems, such as a toilet that needed fixing, and the owners were very quick to call a repair person. We all appreciate having wi-fi at the house and it is very pleasant to sit on the porch, overlooking the lake, when doing email or just relaxing. We take our ipod with us as there is a 'dock' so we can listen to 'our' music. Our adult children and their husbands take turns sleeping at the 'love shack' down the hill towards the lake - its nice to be be able to sleep in while on vacation. We highly recommend a week or two or three at the Knickerbocker Lake Retreat"

  • A beautiful spot to vacation!

"Me, my boyfriend & our two dogs really enjoyed our time here! We spent each day hiking the local land trust trails-there were so many that we sometimes hiked two per day & we never repeated a trail! The trails & views were gorgeous. We took a few day trips to neighboring towns & never traveled more than 60 minutes. Reed State Park was worth the 60 minute drive with bike trails & two gorgeous beaches. We rented kayaks in Southport & rode out to an island. So much fun. We are outdoor enthusiasts & we found that we had a lot to do in Boothbay & Barters Island. I really appreciate the kind owners who were 100% supportive of our having a wonderful time in their home. Also, the home was well kept, comfortable & felt secluded being the last home on a dead-end street. It was perfect for me & the dogs! I would recommend anyone stay here as it was really awesome."
