"We rented Abby's Boothbay Harbor home for our 50th wedding anniversary destination event. We had 14 quests from throughout the U.S. flying in for the celebration. NO...the cottage does not hold sixteen people. Most were here for only three nights and we placed them at Brown's Wharf Inn for their stay.
The cottage has all of the amenities you could wish for and is beautifully decorated. There are cheaper rentals in Boothbay, but they do not compare to the attention to detail that you find at Portside.
Being from Florida we appreciated the fireplace in the morning probably the most. The kitchen has everything a chef would want. We don't cook when we come to Maine so we did not get the oven dirty. Another nice touch was the presence of the various household products that we usually have to go out and purchase.
We will book this property for our future visits to Boothbay Harbor. We usually come up every two years."

"We had a lovely stay at the carriage house. Everything was just as it was advertised & in great condition. If we had a question we called the property caretaker & he was right there to take care of it. The Dock was a lovely place to sit & the grounds were very beautiful. Thank you for making our vacation so lovely we had a wonderful time.

"STOP! "Don't ya move a 'goldarned' inch", as the old Maine story goes from Marshall Dodge. This is the place you have been looking for. My wife walked through on our arrival and out onto the deck and said, "This is just as it was described". I certainly agreed and breathed a huge sigh of relief. This was the 1st week of a 3 in Maine for our 50th wedding anniversary. The second 2 weeks to be in the Belgrade Lakes at another of Scott's properties.
The cottage has been expertly renovated and decorated by Scott for your stay. The amenities are as described. The kitchen will accomodate all your culinary needs. We chose the loft bedroom for it's view and coziness.
If it gets foggy, you will not care!"

our family LOVES life on Knickerbocker Lake, nearby Boothbay Harbor
"Our family of 12 (ages 8-80) has enjoyed week-long sojourns at this quiet, private lake-side retreat for many years. The kids enjoy swimming in the lake & exploring the lake via kayak. We love hearing the loons at night. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (although a new stove/oven would be very nice!) and we prepare most of our meals together; a trip to the lobster pound is a daily experience. The Botanical Garden is a treasure & we take side trips to nearby attractions such as the aquarium and boat rides in the harbor. On our way north, to Boothbay, we stop at Whole Foods in Portland in order to stock up on fruit, veggies and things we know we cannot get at Hannaford's . We do our 'big shop' for staples at Hannafords south of Boothbay. The local Hannaford store, in Boothbay, is adequate and there is a farm store close by where we buy corn and other veggies. Linens are supplied and we put used sheets and towels by the washing machine before we depart. On occasion there have been minor problems, such as a toilet that needed fixing, and the owners were very quick to call a repair person. We all appreciate having wi-fi at the house and it is very pleasant to sit on the porch, overlooking the lake, when doing email or just relaxing. We take our ipod with us as there is a 'dock' so we can listen to 'our' music. Our adult children and their husbands take turns sleeping at the 'love shack' down the hill towards the lake - its nice to be be able to sleep in while on vacation. We highly recommend a week or two or three at the Knickerbocker Lake Retreat"
