"Azure Teal was a charming place for staying near Boothbay Harbor. We live in the mountains and there was lots of woods around us, so we felt right at home. There was even a nice trail that our host created in the woods behind the house. This was a pet friendly rental that was great for our dog Tanner, he loved exploring and we loved having him with us on vacation. Our host had some great art work and touches that really connected to the earth, and we would definitely vacation there again if we come back to the area. The only complaint is that the house wasn't spotless, I believe we left it cleaner than when we arrived, but all in all, a great place to stay!"

"My husband and I rented this cottage in June 2015, and we also brought along our dog. It was our first time visiting Boothbay Harbor, and I want to first start out by saying that it is an amazing little town! It is super dog friendly, and every one was so kind and helpful! It's definitely a great vacation spot! We were told by the locals that we came early enough to beat the summer tourist rush, but at a time where we were still able to enjoy their annual Windjammer Festival.
The cottage was beautiful, and it is in a very convenient location and easy to find. It is truly on the water, and the views can't be beat. It was absolutely stunning to wake up to views of the harbor out of the large picture window every morning (something I miss already!)! We took advantage of the rooftop deck a couple of times, and the views are even more stunning from there. We were grateful for the jetted tub, as well as the kitchenette with the full-size refrigerator. Furthermore, we really enjoyed the fact that we had access to their larger, neighboring property's dock, and we spent a couple afternoons just lounging on it.
One reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were some cobwebs (though I think it's because we were one of the first people staying in it for the season), and I am terrified of spiders. Luckily, my husband was there to rescue me :) Also, the small kitchen table and 2 iron (?) chairs were a little difficult to use. Since the chairs are so heavy and fit so snug between the legs of the table, there were a few times when we went to stand up from sitting and the chairs fell backward from under us. I would maybe recommend some lighter wooden chairs.
We didn't get the chance to meet Shane or Gene while we were there because we were constantly out and about, but they were very accommodating through email and over the phone. They made sure to send us tons of information about Boothbay Harbor that came in handy, and I believe they were right up at their neighboring property if we really needed them.
Overall, it was a great vacation, and we would definitely stay there again if we find ourselves back in Boothbay Harbor! Thank you, Shane and Gene!"

our family LOVES life on Knickerbocker Lake, nearby Boothbay Harbor
"Our family of 12 (ages 8-80) has enjoyed week-long sojourns at this quiet, private lake-side retreat for many years. The kids enjoy swimming in the lake & exploring the lake via kayak. We love hearing the loons at night. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (although a new stove/oven would be very nice!) and we prepare most of our meals together; a trip to the lobster pound is a daily experience. The Botanical Garden is a treasure & we take side trips to nearby attractions such as the aquarium and boat rides in the harbor. On our way north, to Boothbay, we stop at Whole Foods in Portland in order to stock up on fruit, veggies and things we know we cannot get at Hannaford's . We do our 'big shop' for staples at Hannafords south of Boothbay. The local Hannaford store, in Boothbay, is adequate and there is a farm store close by where we buy corn and other veggies. Linens are supplied and we put used sheets and towels by the washing machine before we depart. On occasion there have been minor problems, such as a toilet that needed fixing, and the owners were very quick to call a repair person. We all appreciate having wi-fi at the house and it is very pleasant to sit on the porch, overlooking the lake, when doing email or just relaxing. We take our ipod with us as there is a 'dock' so we can listen to 'our' music. Our adult children and their husbands take turns sleeping at the 'love shack' down the hill towards the lake - its nice to be be able to sleep in while on vacation. We highly recommend a week or two or three at the Knickerbocker Lake Retreat"

"My wife and I, accompanied by our adult daughter, came up for a late May week to visit with relatives and friends who were opening cottages for the summer season. This small, cozy cottage was a real treat. It is furnished simply, a traditional cottage that has not been remodeled, as so many have at Ocean Point. But it had enough modern amenities to make our stay pleasant, including very comfortable beds.
The ocean views are spectacular, and with luck, you might get to see more than the ever-present gulls, cormorants, and other water birds. On our last morning, we were surprised when, previously unnoticed, a bald eagle suddenly launched into flight from one of the trees down my the road. May weather was a bit cool to make full use of the front deck, but during summer days, it would provide a great space to relax and soak up the ocean scene."
