"Everything was perfect when we arrived, including replacement of down pillows and comforter to accommodate a severe feather allergy. As frequent guests to Spruce Point inn in the past we know the Booth Bay Harbor area very well and have always said "someday we will stay at Retreat Cottage" but since we could never plan far ahead it was always booked. This year we are moving to the West Coast so this was our last Maine vacation - we never dreamed the cottage would be available but it was.
The cottage is small - perfect for two adults and is so peaceful. We started and ended each day sitting in the chairs out front - coffee in the morning; wine in the evening. The kitchen is small but thanks to our manager, Sue we learned of Eventide and were able to pick up some very nice cheeses, meats and breads for anti pasto We also stopped at the York Farmer's market on the way up and got some meats and veggies. It was easy to whip up a gourmet meal a couple of days - and the others we headed to Muscongus Bay Trading Company in Round Pond which is a long time favorte.
Having a chance for an evening sail on our last night made the entire trip perfect.
Thank you Susan for helping to make this happen and to our host John Druce who elected to keep the Retreat Cottage and maje u available for special memories."

"After spending most of August and September at 3 Bay Point in Georgetown, we are relaxed, refreshed and now long for all that we had on such a small and secluded island in Maine. First, the house itself, which was completely renovated about 10 years ago, is both true to the original architecture while also offering modern bathrooms and a very workable kitchen that is both rustic in feel and able to stand up to all of our cooking. It is immediately evident that décor is the result of an artist’s eye. The entire four bedroom, three full bath house is filled with art and artifacts so that you are regularly resting your eyes on an enchanting new detail previously overlooked. Not an easy thing considering we were there for nearly two months! The grounds are lovely, with a variety of spots to hang out, including a stone backyard fire pit!
Deborah, the property owner was a joy to have nearby in the attached renovated barn. Deb is charming, charismatic, and is extremely responsive to any and all questions or requests. Toaster broken? No problem! A new toaster the next day. Thank you for everything Deb. We miss you!
The house is within a five minute drive to Reid State Park. We went to Reid nearly every afternoon to walk around the rocks and enjoy the many views of the water and islands. There are few commercial establishments on the island, but you can exist there without going to (the mainland if you wish. Or you can go to charming, nearby, Bath, Maine for whatever you may need. Georgetown is an excellent starting place for easy day trips to places like Wiscasset, Portland, Freeport and Boothbay Harbor.
Deborah will fill you in on everything you need to know and where to go for what.
All in all, this large, charming property is a perfect home away from home."

"This home was perfect for our family of 6. We had plenty of room for the kids to play in the large family room and yard. The kitchen was a good size and the wrap around porch was a great place for meals and coffee. The location is great. Right across the street from the harbor and a short walk to many things like Back Cove, a local bake shop, ice cream and small store. Short drive to beach and lighthouse. Its in a low traffic area so I felt safe walking on the road with my kids or riding bikes. The kids enjoyed looking for crabs in the harbor at low tide. You can launch kayaks or boats right across the street. The locals we came across were very friendly. The home owner is friendly and accommodating. Very easy to work with and always got back to me right away when I had questions. We will be back!"

A step back in time with great views and some modern conveniences
"This is an incredible home and I recommend it for a launching pad for exploring the mid coast of Maine. Worlds away from civilization while being close enough (10 minutes) for groceries, restaurants and sightseeing... Stayed here for a wedding weekend and wish I had more time and more of my family with me to enjoy the home, farm and salt water. It's a neatly preserved old Maine home with neat decorations and knick·knacks. Ideal for a romantic get away, family vacation or group of friends getting together to celebrate. It gets 4 out of 5 stars only because it did not have a shower (only a tub). Internet would be a bonus but you may want to get away. It does have satellite TV and movies for rainy day entertainment."
