"Well we just completed our 3rd straight September and are looking forward to our 4th at this wonderful location. Nat and Dorothy could not be more gracious to us.
We feel as though we are now " locals" as we arrive each Labor Day weekend for a beautiful month of the peace and quiet of Searsport and Penobscot Bay. We spend our winters anticipating our time in Maine. Having dinner on the deck after an afternoon in the pool, walking in the state parks or exploring Belfast, Bar Harbor and Camden.
The house is always impeccably clean when we arrive and everything is in top working order. I honestly cannot over emphasize how nice it is for us. We have travels many, many miles in our lives but This is our favorite place to just chill out for a month and enjoy the Bay and the wonderful weather."

"When I first started researching a Maine vacation property to rent for a week I focused on traditional coastal cottages. What I found was that most of properties were, well--a bit too rustic for my tastes or the cost too high. When I came across River Watch it immediately caught my attention. Although it was a more modern cottage, it met all of our other wants and needs. I sent an email with a few questions to the owners, Kathryn and Joe, and it was promptly answered with warmth and friendliness. In fact, Kathryn was truly a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire rental process.
When we arrived at the cottage and opened the door to that incredible view--wow! It was heaven. Simply put, you have 180-degrees of peaceful water views. The deck with the Adirondack recliners as well as the chairs next to the water enabled us to enjoy six beautiful sunsets. The main cottage (and small guest house, which our college-age son used) had all the amenities imaginable; it was obvious that Kathryn and Joe put much thought into the needs and comfort of their renters. The den area (with that incredible view) had comfortable furniture, flat-screen TV, DVR, stereo system and a supply of DVD movies to peruse on rainy days (of which we had only one!) There was no cable/satellite TV, but there was high-speed internet and wifi and honestly, we did not miss watching TV shows one bit! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook dinner using the fresh ingredients you could buy at the local markets and farm stands. There was even a charcoal grill in the shed that we used twice. The large bathroom had a full supply of bath and beach towels and under the sink was sun block and mosquito repellant. The bathroom in the guesthouse was similarily supplied. There was a full-size washer and dryer in the garage, as well as laundry detergent, spot remover spray and dryer sheets. The living area with the fireplace at the front of the house was not used by us very much, since it was pleasantly warm while we were there. But I can imagine a toasty fire would be nice to sit around when there's more of a chill in the evening air. The bedrooms were of a decent size with small closets that easily held a week's worth of clothes. The property was fairly close to several charming villages and Rockland for any major supplies.
It was difficult to leave this beautiful place but we hope to come back someday!
Hint--take the ferry from Port Clyde to Monhegan Island."

"Peaceful and relaxing. Spacious sleeping arrangements. Enjoyed using the kayaks, grill, and deck.
Less than half hour to Hallowell (for small shops and large antique mall) and Augusta. Visit the State of Maine museum! Very nicely done and extremely inexpensive ($2 for adults, $1 for teens). Hussey's General Store is nearby and a must-see: guns, ammo, wedding gowns, and cold beer!
Suggestions: additional seating for dining. Cabin sleeps 8 comfortably but only 3 chairs for dining. Also, anyone taller than 6' needs to duck through doorways and on second floor."

"We had a great experience at the Irish Rose. It was perfect for our needs. The home was as advertised, spacious, fully equipped and comfortable. We loved hanging out on both porches. The cove was great for kayaking at high tide and beach combing at low tide. The location, between Camden and Rockland, was convenient but without the throngs those areas attract. The owners, Alex and Siobhan, were responsive without being on top of us. We would like to thank them for their hospitality. We would happily recommend the Irish Rose and hope to return next year."
