  • Beautiful carriage house, amazing setting

"This rental is really special. We loved everything about the property – so much care was taken with the landscaping and the outdoor seating and the beautiful vistas – there was literally something new to discover around every corner. It made me happy every time I turned into the driveway to know what was awaiting us. It's really hard to describe how lovely the property is but trust me... The Boothbay region is a fun place to explore – if you have kids, DO NOT MISS the Maine Coastal Botanical Garden, which is right around the corner from Arden. We spent most of the day there and had we known they had kayaking, we might have spent even longer. There is also a small little aquarium just down the road - small as in one room - but good for an hour or so of fun for the kids. The upstairs unit was really comfortable with everything you’ll need. It was spotlessly clean (something I don’t always find in VRBO rentals), the kitchen was fully stocked, the bed was comfortable and there was a fireplace and TV/DVD player for the occasional rainy day. The washer/dryer unit was nice to have as well. This is by far the best all-around VRBO rental we've had in Maine; I'd love to return. Thank you!"

  • A real Maine Cottage

"Bill, the owner, has a perfect Maine get-away in the woods and near the ocean. The cottage is modern enough yet simple enough as well. The cottage has lovely windows everywhere...so much great light. The wood burning fireplace was superb on cool October mornings and evenings. We would return and rent again because we were very pleased with our rental decision."

  • Relaxing private area with beautiful large home.

"We spent a short 4 days and enjoyed every second of our time in this comfy, yet large, home. We fished, shopped, went on walks along trails on the property and the local area. Took a day trip over to Monhegan Island - it was GLORIOUS! I finally heard the loons on my last night there. Another item off my bucket list. We ate at King Eiders Pub one night and I had their fantastic Seafood Pot Pie. Wish we'd had more time to spend in the area. Maybe someday we will return, I'd like to think so. Thank you for opening up your home so that others can enjoy the incredible beauty of the Bristol area."

  • A perfect Maine vacation

"As we drove down Pemiquid Trails to the Laughing Gull cottage we admired the beautiful homes along the ocean and the quiet of the street. And then we came to the cottage, we could tell it was a log cabin built many years ago and situated on a perfect piece of property. The windows had window boxes with beautiful yellow and blue wildflowers. The property was extremely well manicured, and the pine trees in the front on the ocean side couldn’t have been more picturesque. Two white picket chairs sitting there, just waiting for us to come out with a good glass of wine and watch the Sun set. Once we entered the cabins, we immediately left all the stress at the door; we felt like we were home. The cabin was beautiful, well-appointed and so peaceful. Every amenity was thought of and we needed to bring nothing but our clothes, books and food. The cabin was immaculately clean and smelled fresh. The kitchen had every cooking utensil you would need, even Lobster plates and a lobster pot! Plenty of dishes, silverware even a poaching pan for eggs. We found additional treats, such as, the bathroom had a heater, the bed had a mattress warmer and propane heater that could heat the whole house. The small barn out back had more than enough fire wood to satisfy the beautiful ocean stone fireplace, it was huge and burned beautiful fires – what a treat. Plenty of activities to do within a close ride, lot of trials, and sites to see, good restaurants. Additionally two well-maintained bikes were in the barn for our use. The Host was also in residence and came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything to give him a call. It is a good feeling to have the owner close by – just in case. We are so pleased with finding the Laughing Gull that we have booked two weeks next year. Kathie and Jonathan"
