  • What a pleasure!!!

"Our family of four had a wonderful time staying at the "Souler" home of Jason. House was clean and uncluttered, bed linens are fab! Will definitely stay again!"

  • Most peaceful week ever!

"My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful property to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and his birthday, which was during our stay. It was amazing to look out on salt water from so many windows and each time we stepped outside! The view from the house is mesmerizing, with a gorgeous sunrise every morning. I never tired of photographing the sunrise, even though the pictures are all very similar. Higgins Island makes the view more interesting out front, and the cove is peaceful while the waters just beyond are more active. We had fun walking out to, and around, Higgins Island during low tide. There is a trail head at the end of the road which splits, one way going to the island, and the other into the woods and around a beaver pond. They are set aside for our enjoyment by the Islesboro Island Trust, which has at least a dozen such spots on the island. We hiked them all, and we bicycled all over the island. It is a great island for cycling! Michael could not be more charming and thoughtful and kind; he was an excellent communicator and very helpful. The house was exactly as shown in the photographs, and the long lawn reaching to the water, studded with apple trees and four Adirondack chairs, is like Paradise. A family of deer visited each evening to collect the apples that had fallen that day from the tree. The house is both elegant and comfortable. In a day or two, it felt like home. By the end of the week, I wanted to buy it. Michael's book collection and record collection are impressive, and my husband could have spent a few more months just looking at the books. We were afraid to touch the stereo and records, even though it is okay with Michael. As people who are usually very "plugged in" it was good for us not to have internet for a week. It is a great reminder that a retreat from the hustle bustle of the world can be very good for the soul, and for the relationship too. I almost feel that I cannot get a real vacation from work anymore unless I can put in my out-of-the-office auto-reply that I am on an island in Maine (or somewhere) where there is no internet. There are fewer and fewer places like that. The break from TV didn't hurt either. We read, hiked, biked, and I knitted a sweater! We cooked and ate and explored. I would not be at all surprised if we go back next year. Thank you so much, Michael, for sharing your lovely Cape with people you do not even know. It is a great act of generosity."

  • Great Winter Holiday Retreat

"My husband and I came to Belfast, Maine, from Florida, for the 2014 Christmas season and it was the best of holidays. Before we arrived in Belfast, Deidra provided us with information we requested regarding activities around the community during this time. There was an amazing array of activities - International awarding holiday choral music, in a candle lit historic church, within three blocks (not to be missed) of the rental house; New Year revelries downtown (just a 10 minute stroll away along the bay), a city bonfire by the Bay with hot chocolate for all, etc. We wish we could have done everything that was suggested. Deidra’s home was way beyond expectation. In the middle of winter it was always warm, cheery and very comfortable. The home is situated in a quiet neighborhood and it was so restful to be there. The artistic design and decor of the home inside and out made it a pure pleasure to be there. We can’t say enough good things about our stay at 75 Bayview, Belfast, ME., or our most gracious host, Deidra. We plan to go back and highly recommend it to our friends."

  • Cute cottage with stunning view.

"We stayed here for the fall foliage in late September. This is a great location for us and the areas we wanted to visit. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Great kitchen since we bought back lobsters/seafood to cook. The only thing that was misleading is that you must clean the linens before you check out and also drive your trash to the dumpster that was 15 mins away. I figured that is what the cleaning fee would include that but it doesn't. Otherwise we had a great time! Thank you!"
