  • Most peaceful week ever!

"My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful property to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and his birthday, which was during our stay. It was amazing to look out on salt water from so many windows and each time we stepped outside! The view from the house is mesmerizing, with a gorgeous sunrise every morning. I never tired of photographing the sunrise, even though the pictures are all very similar. Higgins Island makes the view more interesting out front, and the cove is peaceful while the waters just beyond are more active. We had fun walking out to, and around, Higgins Island during low tide. There is a trail head at the end of the road which splits, one way going to the island, and the other into the woods and around a beaver pond. They are set aside for our enjoyment by the Islesboro Island Trust, which has at least a dozen such spots on the island. We hiked them all, and we bicycled all over the island. It is a great island for cycling! Michael could not be more charming and thoughtful and kind; he was an excellent communicator and very helpful. The house was exactly as shown in the photographs, and the long lawn reaching to the water, studded with apple trees and four Adirondack chairs, is like Paradise. A family of deer visited each evening to collect the apples that had fallen that day from the tree. The house is both elegant and comfortable. In a day or two, it felt like home. By the end of the week, I wanted to buy it. Michael's book collection and record collection are impressive, and my husband could have spent a few more months just looking at the books. We were afraid to touch the stereo and records, even though it is okay with Michael. As people who are usually very "plugged in" it was good for us not to have internet for a week. It is a great reminder that a retreat from the hustle bustle of the world can be very good for the soul, and for the relationship too. I almost feel that I cannot get a real vacation from work anymore unless I can put in my out-of-the-office auto-reply that I am on an island in Maine (or somewhere) where there is no internet. There are fewer and fewer places like that. The break from TV didn't hurt either. We read, hiked, biked, and I knitted a sweater! We cooked and ate and explored. I would not be at all surprised if we go back next year. Thank you so much, Michael, for sharing your lovely Cape with people you do not even know. It is a great act of generosity."

  • 2 1/2 Months of Fabulous Fun!

"My husband and I stayed at this great house from late September into early December 2014. We wanted a warm, inviting house to have an empty nest experience and watch the fall colors wash over Maine. Our time here was really terrific and this house fulfilled our wishes. We had guests sprinkled throughout our stay and there was always plenty of room and everyone exclaimed how comfortable the beds were. The kitchen is amazing and incredibly well appointed. If you need it, it's in there! A Viking Stove and butcher block countertops made cooking Thanksgiving dinner with visiting family members truly joyous. We invited new Camden friends to dinner and ended up hosting dinner for 16 people, and we all fit (snugly) in the dining/kitchen area. It felt like home....but better! The location cannot be beat! Walk into town easily for tasty dinners, fun shopping, a really great library or to stroll through the harbor. Walk a block in the opposite direction and you're at Laite Beach and park where you can have fun with kids and dogs, or enjoy a glass of wine while watching the evening sun change the color of the water. Any issue we had was quickly and cheerfully attended to by Kate. We would be delighted to stay here again! The only people who I would not recommend this house to is someone who is unable to navigate stairs. There is not a downstairs bedroom, though in a pinch, they could sleep on the couch because there is a downstairs bathroom."

  • Fabulous vacation!

"This is a wonderful place to vacation if you want a quiet, relaxing time. The house has everything you need and more. The view from every window on the back of the house are spectacular and always changing. It's located within 30 minutes of Camden, Rockland, Owls Head, Boothbay Harbor and of course Moody's! We couldn't ask for a nicer vacation."

  • Comfy, roomy private apartment

"We really liked this well-appointed apartment, which doesn't share any walls with any other units so it's very private. Great central downtown location with an upstairs deck, but no view. Loved the roomy bedroom with a king-sized bed. Small-ish bathroom, but meets all your needs. Great compact kitchen with full-sized refrigerator. Separate dining room. Off-street parking in lot next door. Very friendly and helpful owners."
