  • We loved it!

"This was my first time renting off the water and I was pleasantly surprised. The game room, indoor swing, outdoor play space and yard kept us plenty busy, and when that failed Lake Megunticook and the trails of the Camden Hills were 5 minutes away. It's a really lovely house, the kitchen is very well apppointed, and the house easily handled our two families with 4 children. A total success!"

  • Great house in great location.

"If you're bound for mid-coast Maine and don't have to be on the water, this property offers a great central location great yard and tennis court for the kids (of any age) to play on, and biking to beach, bay, nature areas. Cozy/comfy house had everything we needed for our 2 adult, 2 children family. Endless activities included beach time, kayaking, festival at the Fort, lobster boat races, golf 10 minutes away, biking, tennis, swimming, hiking and a museum/window shopping day in Rockland. There are plenty of restaurants if you want to take a break from the well-stocked kitchen. We'd recommend the property to anyone!"

  • Wonderful getaway

"Al's Lupine Cottage is perfect for visiting the bustling harbor while maintaining the serenity of nature that this location offers. With a deck overlooking the large backyard, you can enjoy Maine at its best while looking through the trees at the activity of the harbor below. We will have good memories of morning coffee and evening wine on the deck! The cottage is immaculate, well-decorated and generously supplied with all your needs. We previously stayed at a top-notch bed/breakfast in BBH, but we prefer the privacy of this cottage. The walk to town is just long enough to be refreshing, and the path is a better option than the steep road. However, don't miss a walk across the road to say "hi" to Moe, the delightful neighbor whose stories will entertain you. Our favorite meal was at Boathouse Bistro (yummy scallops and lobster dishes) and we highly recommend the Lazy Jack Schooner Cruise. Captain Joe was great! We found Al, the owner of Lupine, to be a consummate professional who wants to make sure his guests are happy with their stay. Thanks, Al, for sharing your home with us! We will return."

  • Fantastic location and friendly, responsive owner

"Months before I arrived at the cottage, I was really pleased with how responsive Ken was to all my emails and questions. He gladly sent additional photos to me and always responded very quickly to emails. There are two cottages that are identical, but they are far away enough from each other that they're still very private. I'm really picky about this and I was very happy with how secluded the cottage felt! I really enjoyed how surrounded by trees and high above the pond the cottage was — it made me feel like I was up in a treehouse. You can enjoy the glimmering lake while sitting on the deck and never be too hot because there's always a great breeze and abundant shade. The property is beautiful and the pond is perfect for swimming. It was also very quiet with hardly any motor boats when we were there. It was great that a two person kayak and canoe were included, since bringing your own down to the dock would be very difficult. The cottage is in a very private and quiet location (dead end gravel fire road) but still within ten minutes of markets and main roads. The location is phenomenal because of its proximity to the ocean and lots of great restaurants and places to explore. Some recommendations: Savage Oakes Winery - great blueberry wines! Sweetgrass Winery + Distillery - great selection of fruit wines (peach, blueberry, and rhubarb port wines) and incredible view. Great area to drive around and photograph. Rising Tide Co-Op - great for people who like organic and vegan options (they also have awesome freshly baked muffins!) Anchor Inn Restaurant - great grilled seafood and ocean view, plus it's only 15 minutes from the cottage! Primo Restaurant - Worth the drive and it might be the best meal you've ever had. It's definitely a special occasion restaurant because it's not cheap, but it's the ultimate farm to table dining experience there is. They won James Beard Award for best restaurant in New England... can't beat that! Thank you Ken and Becca for sharing your cottage with us!"
