  • Wonderful getaway

"We enjoyed our stay in Camden very much. The house is charming and in a great location; quick walk downtown. Mary was always responsive and helpful with any questions we had leading up to our visit and the whole rental process was smooth."

  • Excellent week in Phippsburg!

"My husband and and I have vacationed in phippsburg many times....from camping at Hermit Island to the Lighthouse at Sebasco Resort. This was the first year we rented a house and we were so glad we did! The house is beautiful, clean, well maintained and stocked. I surprised myself and cooked more than anticipated because the induction cooktop was so much fun. I'm usually kind of skeeved at using dishes, glassware, walking barefoot, etc. in a strange place but this house was so clean, I didn't feel any of that. We had fun paddling around in our rented two person kayak all week. The water is like glass in the morning and evening. There are schools of tiny fish that jump out of the water and with a kayak you can glide right through them! Things that surprised me about the house compared to the website.....it's on a very private road with 3 houses on it. The road is kind of steep but definitely doable. The shower is strange...probably the least desirable feature of the house. Jim says they're thinking of putting in an outdoors shower, which would be great. Nothing like a little outdoor nudity to make a vacation interesting! My suggestion would be to enhance the deck to compliment the beautiful view and make it a nice place to sit in the evening. All in all, would definitely return to this lovely home for another vacation."

  • Lovely home base in Wiscasset

"Our group of 5 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this roomy well-appointed cottage. The listing and photos on this site are perfectly accurate, the property's clean and welcoming, and the owner Ann-Marie's very friendly and helpful. We relaxed in the comfy sun room in the mornings before heading out to Camden, Bath, Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, and other picturesque towns that are an easy drive from Wiscasset. We strolled the nearby antique stores, and loved that our favorite overstuffed lobster rolls at Red's Eats were only a block or so away! Sarah's Cafe down the street also has terrific food, and the ice cream shop next to Red's was also visited by us many times. Be sure to check out the little booths near Sprague's (across the street from Red's) so you can buy marvelous local fruit jams/jellies/syrups from Forgotten Recipes -- we get them for ourselves and to give as gifts. The spacious dining room table was excellent for playing board and card games, and we also spent an evening in the front parlor (with its beautiful views of the waterway) playing Cards Against Humanity thanks to a couple of handy folding tables. The dining room also supported our feasts when we chose to bring home dinner or use the excellent kitchen amenities. If you like eating whole lobsters, go to Gilman's in nearby Bath -- they'll steam them for you if you wish, and put them in a styrofoam container to keep them hot for the trip back to the house (we returned the container to them the next day) where you can dine in bug-free comfort. Five Islands near Georgetown is also excellent, but bring plenty of bug spray if you eat at the picnic tables. Both places have soft-shell lobsters early and mid-July; not edible like soft-shelled crabs, but very easy to crack open. Having a washer/dryer was handy, allowing us to pack light as we could do laundry as needed. It's great that plenty of linens are provided, too, including towels for swimming use. We may well return to this lovely place in the future. The only drawbacks I can think of are that the staircase to the upper floor is rather steep with narrow treads, and tall people may bump their heads in the upstairs rooms. Terrific vacation spot!"

  • Fantastic

"This cottage is clean as a whistle, with everything and more that you will need to relax and enjoy the Boothbay area. The furnishings were clean and comfortable and the home surprisingly roomy. We were able to hear the gulls and fog horns! It is just far enough outside of the noise of downtown Boothbay and yet very close. Great place to stay!!!"
