  • Veery nice

"House overlooks Owls Head Harbor - very nice view. The hosts were very gracious and accomodating. Unfortunately, we arrived at the start of a four day Nor'easter. But it was still a very enjoyable stay. If I can ever get back up there, I would enjoy another stay at this location."

  • Lovely home base in Wiscasset

"Our group of 5 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this roomy well-appointed cottage. The listing and photos on this site are perfectly accurate, the property's clean and welcoming, and the owner Ann-Marie's very friendly and helpful. We relaxed in the comfy sun room in the mornings before heading out to Camden, Bath, Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Freeport, and other picturesque towns that are an easy drive from Wiscasset. We strolled the nearby antique stores, and loved that our favorite overstuffed lobster rolls at Red's Eats were only a block or so away! Sarah's Cafe down the street also has terrific food, and the ice cream shop next to Red's was also visited by us many times. Be sure to check out the little booths near Sprague's (across the street from Red's) so you can buy marvelous local fruit jams/jellies/syrups from Forgotten Recipes -- we get them for ourselves and to give as gifts. The spacious dining room table was excellent for playing board and card games, and we also spent an evening in the front parlor (with its beautiful views of the waterway) playing Cards Against Humanity thanks to a couple of handy folding tables. The dining room also supported our feasts when we chose to bring home dinner or use the excellent kitchen amenities. If you like eating whole lobsters, go to Gilman's in nearby Bath -- they'll steam them for you if you wish, and put them in a styrofoam container to keep them hot for the trip back to the house (we returned the container to them the next day) where you can dine in bug-free comfort. Five Islands near Georgetown is also excellent, but bring plenty of bug spray if you eat at the picnic tables. Both places have soft-shell lobsters early and mid-July; not edible like soft-shelled crabs, but very easy to crack open. Having a washer/dryer was handy, allowing us to pack light as we could do laundry as needed. It's great that plenty of linens are provided, too, including towels for swimming use. We may well return to this lovely place in the future. The only drawbacks I can think of are that the staircase to the upper floor is rather steep with narrow treads, and tall people may bump their heads in the upstairs rooms. Terrific vacation spot!"

  • Wonderful, private home!

"We stayed a week this past Sept with 3 couples and absolutely loved our stay. The pictures on this website do not do justice to how wonderful this house is. The bedrooms are good size with comfortable beds. My only complaint would be the small upper windows have no coverings so the morning sun comes in bright and early. The kitchen I large and has everything you could need and then some. There were tons of spices and other wonderful things in the pantry. We did not cook lobster there but if you did want to do so there is everything you would need. We loved the large great room and really enjoyed the fireplace. If I were to change anything it would be to put a bigger TV in. We did take advantage of the large movie selection they had. There were also lots of games. We love sitting on the deck and looking out at the bay and looking at the beautiful night sky. This home is a bit off the beaten path making for wonderful peace and quiet yet only about 15-20 minutes from the darling town of Camden. There are stores a short drive away but you do need a car if you are staying here. The property manager Janey was a delight to work with quickly responding to every call or email I sent. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Maine I would love to stay here again."
