"Delightful private setting -- lots of trees, lawns and plantings. Views of harbor and boats down to the shore, which is a short walk on a path and a pier (comfortable places to sit on the way down and back up). The cottage itself exudes charm and comfort -- cathedral ceiling, warm pine paneling, natural light through huge windows in the living room, great open deck, sleeping loft and double-bed in bedroom. The owners seem to have thought of everything one could possibly want re: appliances and utensils, linens, cleaning supplies, etc. Quite amazing to find all the modern conveniences (internet access, for ex.) in such a charming retro cottage. This would be a good stop on a tour of Maine coast attractions -- it's not far from several light-houses, the Farnsworth Museum, midway between Portland and Acadia NP, for ex)Round Pond village has a great place for lobsters on the pier, plus a more traditional restaurant (the Anchor). Handicapped accessible for those with a cane and an arm to lean on when outdoors. Would happily return -- and recommend!"

"My daughter, son-in-law and myself flew up from Florida to escape our high summer temperatures with my grandson and his wife from Boston joining us on the weekend. What a cozy home Sea Girt was with plenty of space for everyone to be with the group or by oneself with a book. The furnishings were rustic and inviting and we did not lack for any kitchen device we may have needed. We were mesmerized by the sea and beautiful sunsets and had fun watching the lobstermen checking their traps out front each day. We saw a wild turkey and a mink on the property and spotted a few seals and dolphins in the distance. We went to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens there in Boothbay which is absolutely beautiful. We also took an early evening puffin cruise out of New Harbor(saw over 20 on that trip) and a Boothbay island cruise--both lots of fun. I have already given information on this lovely home to several friends and would highly recommend it to everyone else! Joan"

our family LOVES life on Knickerbocker Lake, nearby Boothbay Harbor
"Our family of 12 (ages 8-80) has enjoyed week-long sojourns at this quiet, private lake-side retreat for many years. The kids enjoy swimming in the lake & exploring the lake via kayak. We love hearing the loons at night. The kitchen is fairly well equipped (although a new stove/oven would be very nice!) and we prepare most of our meals together; a trip to the lobster pound is a daily experience. The Botanical Garden is a treasure & we take side trips to nearby attractions such as the aquarium and boat rides in the harbor. On our way north, to Boothbay, we stop at Whole Foods in Portland in order to stock up on fruit, veggies and things we know we cannot get at Hannaford's . We do our 'big shop' for staples at Hannafords south of Boothbay. The local Hannaford store, in Boothbay, is adequate and there is a farm store close by where we buy corn and other veggies. Linens are supplied and we put used sheets and towels by the washing machine before we depart. On occasion there have been minor problems, such as a toilet that needed fixing, and the owners were very quick to call a repair person. We all appreciate having wi-fi at the house and it is very pleasant to sit on the porch, overlooking the lake, when doing email or just relaxing. We take our ipod with us as there is a 'dock' so we can listen to 'our' music. Our adult children and their husbands take turns sleeping at the 'love shack' down the hill towards the lake - its nice to be be able to sleep in while on vacation. We highly recommend a week or two or three at the Knickerbocker Lake Retreat"

"Small, but just what 'the doctor ordered', this spot was fabulous for our needs. We had a great time in Spruce Head at the Tree House. For two weeks we drove up and down the coast, around Owls Head, Rockland, further north...and down to Port Clyde/ Marshall Point Light. Great location and the little apartment has everything you really need. We appreciated coming home to privacy and quiet, too. We'd recommend this to any couple looking to get away, as long as stairs are not a problem. Thanks so much for the hospitality! We hope to be back."
