  • Dream vacation

"I was unable to stop talking about this property to anyone who would listen. Large house in the middle of the forest (though in the very safe and cosy neighborhood), on the top of the hill, the bay just few hundreds of yards away. This place has everything: all utensils (we cooked in house and went out for two or three times total), great balcony for BBQ, fireplace for the rainy day (we had one), kayak, beach chairs, all the bed stuff (you bring your linen), water in the shower is hot, all the amenities work beautifully, the laundry is better than mine for sure :). Al of us had different idea of the holidays (different age and background), and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was absolutely just like the childhood dream of having home in the woods. The lake is great, very warm, the beach is sandy, has both shade and sun and is 5 minutes away from the house. The Boothbay is cold, so be advised, you probably would not be able to swim in the ocean. This place is NOT for people with disabilities, it has high stairs. Don't expect fancy westcoast style villa, because it is not (thank God). It is a place to spend some slow quality time with those whom you love and finally have all the time in the world just to live. We will be back!"

  • Love Round Pond!

"My wife and I enjoyed a beautiful week in this lovely, well stocked cottage on the banks of Round Pond, Maine. Laura's driving directions were perfect and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found on arrival. A well stocked, pretty little cottage in the woods. We shared the cottage with our 30 year old niece for the first two nights and the space was perfect for the three of us. The grill worked well for our outdoor cooking needs. Our favorite meals out included two excellent meals at Anhor Inn, a delicious lobster to be had at Muscongus Bay Lobster Co., and morning visits with Dot and Joe at Dot's Bakery, all within two miles of this quaint cottage! We took two trips to the Camden area and enjoye a five-star dining experience at Primo, in Rockland. Day trips included a visit to Damariscotta, a refreshing dip in the Bristol Pond, a bone-chilling swim in the ocean at Pemaquid Beach, the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, and a very fun voyage to Monhegan Island on the Hardy Boat! We've been travelling to Maine annually, from Wisconsin, for over 30 years to visit family in Portland. Being tourists in Maine is a somewhat new experience for us. Round Pond, it's environs, and most of all this lovely cottage, all contributed to one of our best vacations yet! The only drawback was the Mosquitos at sunset. But, the cottage was well stocked with repellant! Oh, who is the little old lady that walks down the hill on the property for her daily swim in the ocean?"

  • Great secluded cabin and close to the fun

"We had a great stay in the lodge with our one year old daughter. The home is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and the large deck in great shape. The owner was nearby and able to answer questions and was very friendly and warm. He takes great care of the home as well as the surrounding area. This lodge is great because it's totally secluded (our daughter slept better here than in Brooklyn!) yet it's only about a 10 minute ride from all that Boothbay has to offer. The only upgrade we could think of would be a bigger comfy couch that we could all curl up on together to watch a movie."

  • A gem!

"The Hope Cabin is really quite remarkable. It is so well designed, so thoughtfully put together, and so artfully decorated that you don't feel that it's compact. Instead, it has an expansiveness and a connectedness to the outdoors that makes it a perfect cabin in the woods for those who want to get back in touch with nature. The kitchen is actually very easy for two people to work in (provided they work well together!) and there's just about everything you'd need to prepare a full dinner, as we did on a number of nights. The living room is quite comfortable with a fabulous rocker, too. And the bedroom has two skylights through which you can see the stars at night and the dawn in the morning. The front deck is great to hang out on and watch the deer and wild turkeys and birds in the field - even a bald eagle fly overhead. In short, the cabin is a gem. And we had a great week there in August. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it to friends and family in a flash."
