"This is a wonderful place. Quiet and secluded, it backs up on a small cove that opens onto the ocean. The house is modern and comfortable, with big windows and great views. At low tide we went beach combing and brought back enough mussels for dinner. We came early in the season and had cool temperatures and rain, but we still had a wonderful time. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying themselves here."

"Staying at Puffin Cove was such a pleasure for my husband and me. We were looking for a place that was comfortable, central to the mid-coast and a good value. We found all of these things at Puffin Cove. The apartment is spacious and light-filled with comfortable upholstered seating and bedding. The bathroom is large with excellent laundry facilities. The kitchen is small but functional and well equipped. The outside deck is a perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee or an evening of conversation and laughter. We especially appreciated two things. The apartment came with a generous supply of basic items: soap, laundry supplies, paper products, coffee, tea, sugar etc. This was unexpected but saved us much time and money. We also appreciated our hostess, Grizel so much. She is warm and welcoming. She keeps the apartment stocked with a mini-library of information about her beautiful state and she is so willing to share information with her guests. Every day of our 7 day vacation we were on the go. At the end of the day it was such a pleasure to return to Puffin Cove."

"Excellent family vacation. Kids love searching for mussels when the tide went out. Kayaking and Rowboating were a big hit also. Beautiful scenic property and comfortable home. All this made our two week family vacation rememberable. Excellent location for day trip sightseeing. Visited many local towns, great shops and food. Sunsets on the water breathtaking as is evening rowboat rides. Great place for pets, our dog loved the water and walking the shore at night during low tide. Cool nights made time by fire enjoyable and great for movie night. Plenty of space for large families, kids enjoyed bedroom lofts and exploring the shore for treasure brought in each day. Owners were wonderful, friendly and very helpful at all times. Would definitely recommend to friends and family as well as the possibility to revisit again in the future. Thank you for making your home available to us and allowing us to visit this exceptional place."

"Just got back from our stay at the Weathered Gray Cottage. What a great spot! My wife and I have an eight-month-old baby, so we're beholden to feeding and nap schedules. Serious excursions from the cottage up and down the coast were not an option. That was fine. We enjoyed cooking out and eating at the picnic table, strolling to town with our dog, having a glass of wine or a cup of coffee on the wonderful porch. We lived outside the whole week. I think my posterior wore a groove in the porch rocker. Our golden retriever didn't want to come back to the city. The cottage is not directly on the water but you can see the harbor through breaks in the trees and the yard and porch get plenty of sun when you want it. At night all you hear is the wind in the leaves, the slop of water, and the muffled bong of a bell on a buoy out in the harbor. Perfect. I also appreciated the little touches that made for a pleasant stay—the ceiling fan for keeping things airy, the bookcase full of vacation reads, the kitchen knives that were actually sharp (we cooked a lot), and the comfortable cushions for the deck chairs. On top of all this comfort and convenience, we found the owners responsive and pleasant and the experience to be an excellent value generally. I should also mention that, for a place that accepts dogs and children (like ours), the house was spotless when we arrived. The cottage is smallish and somewhat old-fashioned (small bedrooms, wood paneling, older bathroom). Large parties looking for lots of individual privacy or those looking for ultra-modern, luxe accommodations may be disappointed but they certainly should not feel misled. It's an old cottage. That's the way they were made. The cottage is clean, well maintained, nicely decorated, and reasonably priced. We found it to be better than advertised and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The Weathered Gray Cottage recalled the best parts of our childhood vacations to Cape Cod only it is much better appointed. The location is also a plus. It's a very short drive to Port Clyde and pretty close to Rockland as well. If you go, you MUST try Waterman's Beach Lobster and Dorman's Dairy Dream in Thomaston (both are close and worth traveling to Maine to patronize). I'm recommending the Weathered Gray Cottage to the rest of our family and I think we'll stay there again in the future. Thanks to the owners for a memorable and restorative vacation"
