shabby-chic coastal cottage loaded with amenities and close to Maine's best!
"This adorable cottage was full of charm and was vibrantly decorated with unique coastal antiques and finds. There was plenty of space for the whole family to get comfortable, both inside and out... I really enjoyed the small sun porch first thing in the morning. We slept very well on their comfortable mattresses and with Maine's cool August's nights. We put up our own screen house so we were able to enjoy the peaceful pond view at breakfast and dinner time free of mosquitoes (although they weren't that bad without it.) The cottage even had a grill and a large portable fire pit available for outdoor fires. The mud room was perfect place to store all of our beach and hiking gear. There was a shed where we were able to lock up our bikes, as well. The cottage was shocked with the amenities of home that make vacationing in a cottage enjoyable and convenient: dishwasher, linens, towels, iron, small TV, games and more! The washer and dryer were VERY useful, too! They thought of it all!
The location was close to so many sights and activities. We enjoyed taking morning hikes on local nature trails, scenic bike rides and going to Totman Cove right down the street. What a great little secluded beach that was perfect for young children and dogs. In the afternoons we would head to the beautiful Popham Beach, which is free with the Maine State Park pass they provided. The owners provided a wonderful welcome packet and there are guides, brochures and maps at the cottage for those looking for some ideas of where and what to do in the area and beyond.
This area is very special and can create many wonderful family memories. My family has been vacationing on this peninsula every summer since I was a baby. Now, my husband, toddler, dog and I have ventured out to find a cottage that fits our family's needs and wants.... we found it here! We are looking forward to vacationing here for the years to come and making our own wonderful Maine memories!"

"Terrific house for our extended family with plenty of living space for everyone. Our 3 dogs were in heaven. We loved the open feel of the house - everywhere windows. Everything was very clean, beds were comfortable, comfortable furniture throughout. Dennis was easy to reach, happy to answer as many questions as we had. He as immediately accessible when we had trouble logging into the WIFI network. We spent a part of each day at Knights Pond just down the road. It was an unusual combination of total privacy yet easy access to Belfast, Camden, etc. We particularly enjoyed Belfast. Thank you for such a great getaway!"

"Our stay at Cousins Cove was absolutely fantastic. We were a large group, many families coming together to spend a week in Port Clyde. The house was spotless upon arrival, with plenty of linens and towels provided. There are essentially 3 wings of the house, allowing for a large group to have the best of both worlds, privacy in the sleeping areas and large accommodating common space for gathering. My family stayed upstairs, my husband and I in the master, my 2 children in the 2 twin bedroom and we shared a full bath. Our bedroom, spacious and bathed in soothing beach colors, provided lots of closet space and drawers for our belongings. But nothing compares to waking up each morning to THAT VIEW! Every corner of this house offers views onto the most breathtaking vista, the tidal water, the rocks, the expanse of sea. The quality of the light in this part of the world is something not to be missed.
Our family had plenty of room to gather around the dining table for grand meals and epic games. The house is furnished, in my opinion, perfectly. Comfortable and inviting, not fussy at all. The living room is a wonderful gathering place, decorated with a nod to the nautical.
My absolute favorite time of the day was sunset. Cocktails on the back porch, overlooking the kids running wild in the yard, with the shifting sun light over the water. The screened porch served as a perfect location for our lobster dinners at night and for coffee in the morning.
The owners, Mark and Alice, could not have been more accommodating hosts. Making valuable recommendations for places to go and things to see! They even invited to take us out on their sail boat for what turned out to be, one of the highlights of the trip. Seeing Maine from the water was such a treat!
I cannot recommend this property enough. We have rented many houses over the years, and this remains one of the best and one we will surely be returning to."

"As we drove down Pemiquid Trails to the Laughing Gull cottage we admired the beautiful homes along the ocean and the quiet of the street.
And then we came to the cottage, we could tell it was a log cabin built many years ago and situated on a perfect piece of property. The windows had window boxes with beautiful yellow and blue wildflowers.
The property was extremely well manicured, and the pine trees in the front on the ocean side couldn’t have been more picturesque. Two white picket chairs sitting there, just waiting for us to come out with a good glass of wine and watch the Sun set.
Once we entered the cabins, we immediately left all the stress at the door; we felt like we were home. The cabin was beautiful, well-appointed and so peaceful. Every amenity was thought of and we needed to bring nothing but our clothes, books and food. The cabin was immaculately clean and smelled fresh.
The kitchen had every cooking utensil you would need, even Lobster plates and a lobster pot! Plenty of dishes, silverware even a poaching pan for eggs. We found additional treats, such as, the bathroom had a heater, the bed had a mattress warmer and propane heater that could heat the whole house.
The small barn out back had more than enough fire wood to satisfy the beautiful ocean stone fireplace, it was huge and burned beautiful fires – what a treat.
Plenty of activities to do within a close ride, lot of trials, and sites to see, good restaurants. Additionally two well-maintained bikes were in the barn for our use. The Host was also in residence and came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything to give him a call. It is a good feeling to have the owner close by – just in case.
We are so pleased with finding the Laughing Gull that we have booked two weeks next year.
Kathie and Jonathan"
