"We recently stayed at Heron Cove and for the most part were very pleased with the house and surrounding area. The house was equipped as stated except for a lack of good size bowls and dish towels. There were plenty of bath towels and bed linens. Our main complaint was the cleanliness of the house. Lisa if you are paying someone to come in and clean between guests than I suggest you find another company. The black mold around the windows and on the fridge seal was not good. My son upon arrival had to start taking medicine for this. I would suggest a dehumidifier for the basement as the dampness and odor made it impossible to stay down there. Also there was a broken rocking chair on the porch and you have let the bushes grow so that it was hard to get down to the water, (not like picture). The house otherwise fit our needs and it was quiet and nice to be able to let the kids play outside without worrying about them going out into the road. Neighbors were nice enough to let us put our kayak in from their property. It was very relaxing, with lots of wonderful sights. The view from the deck is beautiful. Would recommend this home if the few things I mentioned were addressed"

"I stayed at An Tigin while taking a one-week art course at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The cottage was a perfect choice except that instead of studying and practicing what I had learned in class all day, I was so distracted by the beauty of An Tigin's setting, I relaxed and decided the studying could wait until another time. I enjoyed the comings and goings of the tide, the bright glow of the moon, the flashing sparkles of many fireflies, and the delightful flowers in the gardens. Southport Island is a tranquil place, yet it is close enough to the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor. An Tigin exceeded all of my expectations as a comfortable, cozy, and classic Maine retreat. The cottage is bright, it is joyful, it is clean, and the views are extra special. Brooke has created a very unique bit of history on the coast of Maine and what a pleasure it is to escape from the madding crowds to a place where romance grows, and glows, all around you."

"This was our second year to spend a week in September at the Carousel. We will definitely want to return again and again. The house is beautifully located on a bluff overlooking the ocean with a deck that offers gorgeous views of the sunrise, the ocean with working lobster boats and, of course, the sound of surf pounding below. One special feature that we loved was the way the sun warms the deck in the morning so that even on chilly September morings it was comfortable to sit outside and enjoy coffee with the view. Inside, the house is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. We loved the comfortable living room with its many windows, making it possible to enjoy the view even on rainy or stormy days. There are two bedrooms downstairs, each with its own bathroom (beautifully rennovated) and a bed upstairs in the loft. The only problem I could find with the house is that a couple sleeping upstairs cannot access a bathroom without going through one of the downstairs bedrooms. If children are sleeping in the loft ths might be ok, but not for, say, a third couple. Otherwise, I would say the house is perfect. If you prefer to do something other than sit on the deck, there are lovely places to visit nearby - for example, the Marshall Point Lighthouse, the little village of Port Clyde, Drift-in Beach, the Lobster Lane Used Bookstore (unfortunately only open on weekends) and Monhegan Island which has a nice boat ride to get there and some wonderful hiking. The house and its surroundings are all a very special experience!"

"My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful week in the Lodge...wife and I had been in the area two years before and served as guides...Lodge is perfect and huge and very clean. Pat, the cleaning lady kindly provided us with a vase of flowers from her garden and a wonderful home-baked blueberry loaf cake...traveled to nearby Maine Prison store, featuring inmate woodwork at very reasonable prices...also, Morse's Sauerkraut retail store for their weekend brunch, featuring one of the best hash we've ever had. Dined in Damarascotta at Crissy's for terrific breakfasts and King Eider for dinner and lunch and always had oysters on half-shell...oysters in this region of the country are the best...clean, tender, opened so that liquor remains in shell and always on ice. Also had our share of lobsters...Chap, the owner was wonderful and agreed that my wife and I could stay an additional three days to avoid crowds during the Papal visit in Philadelphia for an additional fee. All told, it was a great trip to Maine and wife and I are already thinking about returning to the Lodge in two years. As noted in previous review, pictures don't do this property justice. It's terrific!"
