"How rare it is to find a vacation residence that is in the middle of a small community with numerous activity options and still feel a strong sense of privacy and serenity. That is Backbay Cottage in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The amenities of the cottage exceeded our expectations as did the quality of the cottage itself. Stepping through the french doors that open onto a private deck, we found ourselves literally at the water's edge. Stepping out of the cottage directly onto one of the main streets of Boothbay Harbor allowed us to have access within a few walking minutes to restaurants and shops of all kinds. I probably sound to enthusiastic, but this was such a delightful experience for all of us in my family. These were the best vacation accomdations we have every enjoyed."

"If you're bound for mid-coast Maine and don't have to be on the water, this property offers a great central location great yard and tennis court for the kids (of any age) to play on, and biking to beach, bay, nature areas. Cozy/comfy house had everything we needed for our 2 adult, 2 children family. Endless activities included beach time, kayaking, festival at the Fort, lobster boat races, golf 10 minutes away, biking, tennis, swimming, hiking and a museum/window shopping day in Rockland. There are plenty of restaurants if you want to take a break from the well-stocked kitchen. We'd recommend the property to anyone!"

"The cottage is very a well maintained piece of history. It has been very nicely updated. Every bedroom had a view of the ocean and it was wonderful to be lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves. We enjoyed the shore and searched for shells and sea glass treasures in the rocks and sand. A bonus was watching the lobster boat checking traps and listening to the loons call. David was pleasant and prompt in maintaining contact throughout from inquiries to booking and greeting us upon arrival."

"My wife and I enjoyed a two week stay in the Maranatha Cottage in late August and early September. The cottage sits behind the larger house that’s also available as a rental from the same owner. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with a new refrigerator and stove and although there were only two of us, there is ample sleeping space for a larger group. The cottage sits a few dozen feet further back from the water than the main house but there’s a lovely view of the sunrise over the water from the master bedroom window. The two properties sit at the water’s edge at the end of a cul-de-sac so it’s very quiet and peaceful throughout the day. This was a working vacation and we were away each day until evening, so we especially enjoyed sipping a glass of wine on the beach at sunset. While the location feels remote, good restaurants, shopping and services are available a few miles away in Thomaston or Rockland. The excellent Slipway restaurant at the marina in Thomaston should not be missed. We had comfortable and enjoyable stay in the cottage and felt that it was very reasonably priced."
