  • Veery nice

"House overlooks Owls Head Harbor - very nice view. The hosts were very gracious and accomodating. Unfortunately, we arrived at the start of a four day Nor'easter. But it was still a very enjoyable stay. If I can ever get back up there, I would enjoy another stay at this location."

  • The perfect choice

"The cottage has all the amenities one could want without sacrificing its coastal charm. It's a very short drive to downtown Searsport, close to beautiful state parks, museums, antique shops and fresh seafood. The cottage provides easy access to the beach, fantastic views, a deck great for catching rays, grilling or just watching the tide roll in. Very clean, with comfortable beds, nice linens and enough hot water for everyone. The pictures don't lie. We have used VRBO to stay across the country, and always had a positive experience. But we've never had a more friendly and accommodating host working with us than Nancy. Her thoughtfulness and consideration made our trip even better. It's not a question of if we will be back, just a matter of when."

  • Most peaceful week ever!

"My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful property to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and his birthday, which was during our stay. It was amazing to look out on salt water from so many windows and each time we stepped outside! The view from the house is mesmerizing, with a gorgeous sunrise every morning. I never tired of photographing the sunrise, even though the pictures are all very similar. Higgins Island makes the view more interesting out front, and the cove is peaceful while the waters just beyond are more active. We had fun walking out to, and around, Higgins Island during low tide. There is a trail head at the end of the road which splits, one way going to the island, and the other into the woods and around a beaver pond. They are set aside for our enjoyment by the Islesboro Island Trust, which has at least a dozen such spots on the island. We hiked them all, and we bicycled all over the island. It is a great island for cycling! Michael could not be more charming and thoughtful and kind; he was an excellent communicator and very helpful. The house was exactly as shown in the photographs, and the long lawn reaching to the water, studded with apple trees and four Adirondack chairs, is like Paradise. A family of deer visited each evening to collect the apples that had fallen that day from the tree. The house is both elegant and comfortable. In a day or two, it felt like home. By the end of the week, I wanted to buy it. Michael's book collection and record collection are impressive, and my husband could have spent a few more months just looking at the books. We were afraid to touch the stereo and records, even though it is okay with Michael. As people who are usually very "plugged in" it was good for us not to have internet for a week. It is a great reminder that a retreat from the hustle bustle of the world can be very good for the soul, and for the relationship too. I almost feel that I cannot get a real vacation from work anymore unless I can put in my out-of-the-office auto-reply that I am on an island in Maine (or somewhere) where there is no internet. There are fewer and fewer places like that. The break from TV didn't hurt either. We read, hiked, biked, and I knitted a sweater! We cooked and ate and explored. I would not be at all surprised if we go back next year. Thank you so much, Michael, for sharing your lovely Cape with people you do not even know. It is a great act of generosity."

  • Nice Home Good location with Everything you need

"This home is well situated between Boothbay and Wiscasset. We had a great time visiting both towns while having a lovely vacation home to enjoy. The home is clean, comfortable and well stocked. Very tranquil and quiet. You can watch the lobster boats from the deck in the morning. The owner was attentive - I recommend staying here."
