"This was our very first time staying at Ledgewood Cottage and I have to say our family is hooked! We have been coming to the area for over 30 years with my parents and have always camped. My parents are now getting up there in age and we are finding that camping even in RV's is becoming difficult so this year we opted to all rent a house we could all be together at! This house was just what the Doctor ordered as my Mom fell immediately in love with the house itself, but to be able to see and smell the ocean from the kitchen, dining and living room was wonderful! There were 10 of us all ranging from the age 70+ to the age of 1 and there was plenty of room for all and so much for everyone to do at the house and in the area! It was so much fun to be able to go down on the rocks and just relax with the sounds of the ocean. We have all decided this will be our new annual family trip... Can't wait until next July! Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home!!"

A step back in time with great views and some modern conveniences
"This is an incredible home and I recommend it for a launching pad for exploring the mid coast of Maine. Worlds away from civilization while being close enough (10 minutes) for groceries, restaurants and sightseeing... Stayed here for a wedding weekend and wish I had more time and more of my family with me to enjoy the home, farm and salt water. It's a neatly preserved old Maine home with neat decorations and knick·knacks. Ideal for a romantic get away, family vacation or group of friends getting together to celebrate. It gets 4 out of 5 stars only because it did not have a shower (only a tub). Internet would be a bonus but you may want to get away. It does have satellite TV and movies for rainy day entertainment."

"The location of Plummer Point was really nice. It is in the woods overlooking the river and it is also close to the town of Damariscotta with a huge grocery store, and two days of outside farmer's markets and a farm stand which is open every day for fresh veggies, etc. The house is comfortable both inside and out for reading, watching the lobster boats on the river, watching the many small birds on the feeder as well as the red squirrels and chipmunks checking out the fallen seeds. The screened in porch was nice for dinners outside without the bugs. And for our large group having a dishwasher was terrific. The teenagers loved the lodge for playing cards and being independent from the adults. We hiked the trails right outside our door, used the canoe and kayaks while watching the seals and terns. We found it was easier to launch the boats at high tide rather than haul them over the rocks at low tide. We bought great lobsters at Osiers in South Bristol near the swing bridge and sat on the deck at Coveside overlooking the marina and the osprey in the nest in the daymark which marks the ledge entering Christmas Cove. We explored the Pemaquid peninsula including the Pemaquid Beach, the lighthouse on Pemaquid Point, New Harbor where we took the Hardy boat to Monhegan Island for the day. We also took a Damariscotta River Cruise and learned about oyster farming on the river. This was a great place for an active family as well as for a group that wants to read, relax and commune with nature. It fit our family group of eight perfectly. It has something for everyone."
