  • A perfect Maine vacation

"As we drove down Pemiquid Trails to the Laughing Gull cottage we admired the beautiful homes along the ocean and the quiet of the street. And then we came to the cottage, we could tell it was a log cabin built many years ago and situated on a perfect piece of property. The windows had window boxes with beautiful yellow and blue wildflowers. The property was extremely well manicured, and the pine trees in the front on the ocean side couldn’t have been more picturesque. Two white picket chairs sitting there, just waiting for us to come out with a good glass of wine and watch the Sun set. Once we entered the cabins, we immediately left all the stress at the door; we felt like we were home. The cabin was beautiful, well-appointed and so peaceful. Every amenity was thought of and we needed to bring nothing but our clothes, books and food. The cabin was immaculately clean and smelled fresh. The kitchen had every cooking utensil you would need, even Lobster plates and a lobster pot! Plenty of dishes, silverware even a poaching pan for eggs. We found additional treats, such as, the bathroom had a heater, the bed had a mattress warmer and propane heater that could heat the whole house. The small barn out back had more than enough fire wood to satisfy the beautiful ocean stone fireplace, it was huge and burned beautiful fires – what a treat. Plenty of activities to do within a close ride, lot of trials, and sites to see, good restaurants. Additionally two well-maintained bikes were in the barn for our use. The Host was also in residence and came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything to give him a call. It is a good feeling to have the owner close by – just in case. We are so pleased with finding the Laughing Gull that we have booked two weeks next year. Kathie and Jonathan"

  • We love the Lake House!

"We come every February for the U.S. National Toboggan Championships in nearby Camden, Maine. Part of our tradition for this annual trip is to stay at the Lake House. Christina is fabulous to work with, the house is gorgeous, and the grounds are phenomenal. What more could we ask for? Christina is a pleasure. She is responsive to our requests and goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We like to explore outside … the snowshoes at the house are ready to go. We love having a big fire every evening … a huge stack of wood is just waiting to be used. A winter storm knocks out cable/internet in the area … Christina makes bunches of calls to get things sorted out. Plus, she’s an enthusiastic cheerleader for our toboggan teams ☺ We try to describe the Lake House to first-time toboganners but words don’t really do it justice. Here are some of the highlights: -The house is very clean and organized while also feeling completely homey. -We can comfortably fit lots of people. Three bedrooms each have a queen bed, there’s a nook area with a twin bed, and two huge (comfy!) sofas in the living room make for great sleeping spots. The house has 3 ½ bathrooms. -The kitchen is a chef’s dream: huge, well stocked, and well designed. -We spend most of our time in the living area, with the aforementioned (awesome) couches and a huge fireplace. -The house’s linens are all professionally cleaned. Washer and dryer are available if you need them for your personal use. -The cellar holds all kinds of equipment for outdoor activities. -You’ll find beautiful, rustic, and personal fine touches all over the house. -We also really appreciate the green aspects of the house, including solar power and recycling facilities. -I can’t comment on the smaller cabins because they are closed during the winter. We’ve never been to the Lake House during the summer, but can attest that it’s awesome in the winter. There is SO MUCH SNOW and the secluded lake right behind the house is frozen over. You can spend hours and hours outside, especially with snowshoes or cross-country skis. Walk out over the lake and check out the woods – it’s the definition of serenity. The surrounding roads in the winter are like the rest of the local rounds in Maine in winter. The locals have trucks and SUVs and 4-wheel drive vehicles but we were okay with our dinky sedans and some winter weather driving know-how."

  • Peaceful

"I treated my wife to a week in Maine for her 70th birthday and I could not have chosen a better place. An Tiggin cottage is a wonderfully comfortable and cozy home with beautiful gardens and placid views. The cottage is in great condition with all the amenities one would need. Our host, Brooke, has created a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the Boothbay region. Our week, the last of September 2014, blessed us with terrific weather. We hope to come back again in 2015. Thanks Brooke for sharing your cottage with us."
