  • A magical place!

"The pictures do not do justice to this lovely, lovely vacation home that sits across the street from the bay and has water rights. It is spacious, beautifully decorated with original art, and very private. There are two beautiful outdoor spaces -- a deck off the dining room (with a 4-burner gas grill) and a patio that is set in the middle of an English-style cottage garden. The kitchen is fully equipped for making meals at home. Our family had an amazing time recharging from our city living, and the house's proximity to Acadia (1.5 hours north) and Camden Hills State Park (20 minutes south) made that very easy. Belfast, the nearest town, has not been overrun by tourism (although there are plenty of quaint shops to purchase Maine souvenirs and a Hannafords nearby for staples and groceries). As an added bonus, the house is not too far from mid-coast attractions (Camden, Rockport, Rockland). The owners made sure that they were available for any questions we may have had, but they were never intrusive. Two things: the master suite is open to a sitting room below (but still offers plenty of privacy) and broadband is limited, so if you're a family that needs to plug in, be prepared to use your cell services."

  • Exquisite charm with serenity

"My wife and I stayed at this gorgeous vacation home on Columbus Day weekend. It was so wonderful to get away from the hustle and bustle of greater Boston. Chris was warm and easy to work with allowing us to bring our beloved dog Oscar without hesitation. We went for walks along the main road, had breakfast at the cozy little cafe down the road, and attended the local pumpkin festival. The deck is huge with a picturesque view of the gut, we sat and watched the boats come in an out of the harbor with great peace and delight. There was WIFI, parking for 3 cars, 2 spacious bedrooms, blankets, books, board games, and kayaks for use. We basically had all the amenities of a 5-star hotel with the character and charm of this sleepy and nautical vacation home. South Bristol is a hidden gem and a must see and Chris was more than friendly and accommodating. We will be returning very soon."

  • Pleasant cottage

"My wife and I enjoyed a two week stay in the Maranatha Cottage in late August and early September. The cottage sits behind the larger house that’s also available as a rental from the same owner. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with a new refrigerator and stove and although there were only two of us, there is ample sleeping space for a larger group. The cottage sits a few dozen feet further back from the water than the main house but there’s a lovely view of the sunrise over the water from the master bedroom window. The two properties sit at the water’s edge at the end of a cul-de-sac so it’s very quiet and peaceful throughout the day. This was a working vacation and we were away each day until evening, so we especially enjoyed sipping a glass of wine on the beach at sunset. While the location feels remote, good restaurants, shopping and services are available a few miles away in Thomaston or Rockland. The excellent Slipway restaurant at the marina in Thomaston should not be missed. We had comfortable and enjoyable stay in the cottage and felt that it was very reasonably priced."

  • Wonderful!

"We vacationed for years in the Bath/Brunswick area, so we were a little apprehensive about staying in Tenant’s Harbor. Let me say, we were not disappointed. The house was perfect for our family, very clean and well-maintained. We were able to spread out with room to spare! We spent a lot of time on the screened-in porch which accommodated our entire family (11 of us!). Port Clyde, the neighboring village, is small, but quaint. It is very clean and has a pier with comfortable chairs for relaxing while enjoying the surrounding sights and sounds. Just what you expect a tiny fishing village on the coast of Maine to be. The general store has a lot to offer along with a café, which I hope to try next time. The Dip Net, a seafood restaurant directly on the water, is a great place to spend an evening. The food was great, and you just can’t beat the view! The nearby beach (about a mile away), Drift Inn, is wonderful! It’s perfect for adults and children. When the tide is out, there is a wide stretch of sandy beach. It’s a popular spot for paddle boarding and kayaking. We took the harbor cruise from Port Clyde to Monhegan Island. What a nice experience! The nearest big town, Rockland, has a lot to offer, plenty of convenience with grocery stores, etc. The old part of Rockland, Main Street, is great, with lots of shops and restaurants. We ate at The Pearl one night. It’s right on the water, and the food was amazing! Rockport, Camden and Belfast are also a short drive away. All in all, a great place to stay!"
