  • came back for second year in a row for family vacation

"we had such a great time last year that we came back for our family vacation again this August. The accommodations were perfect. The cabin is on a cove. We drank coffee on the deck and watched the sunrise over the ocean. We skipped rocks and collected shells during the day. At night, we grilled burgers and ate lobster under the stars. We used the kayaks to get to a secluded beach that the neighbors told us about. We used the place as a base camp to explore interior Maine and along the coast. It is an ideal location because it is very near lots of attractions, but distanced enough from the tourism and traffic that it provides a real escape and adventure. It is also unique in that the towns it is near are real towns and not just generic tourist towns. The cabin has two bedrooms, a warm and inviting living/ dining area and a kitchen with everything necessary to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The owners are kind and generous folks and that is obvious in our interactions with them as well as in the vibe of the home. It feels warm and welcoming. Highly recommended."

  • Lovely tranquil spot but with lots to do

"We had a delightful time in Georgetown. The house is very private and comfortable. The island itself is lovely to wander about, great sea food at Five Islands, and lovely walks all over the area, including along the beaches. The surrounding area of Maine is also great to visit - lovely little villages and some great art museums at Portland, Bowdoin, and Rockland/Rockport."

  • Perfect place for our last "hurrah of summer"

"The Owl's Nest was the perfect place for our family of 8--4 grandparents, 2 children, and 2 grandchildren. The expansive porch was the perfect setting for our morning cup of coffee as we watched the fishermen check their lobster traps and a glass of wine in the evening as we watched the sun set. We fished (our grandson caught a lobster on his fishing line) , played ping pong, made smores by the fireplace, walked to the East Boothbay General Store for doughnuts each morning, and simply soaked in the beauty of our surroundings. It is the quintessential Maine cottage with every amenity needed to have a fun filled week--comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, and a perfect location for easy access into Boothbay."

  • Perfect family getaway

"Our entire family just returned from a great vacation in Camden, ME and we stayed at this beautiful rental home. The home is spacious and extremely well appointed. We had our 3 grandchildren, ages 4-15, their parents and the two grandparents. Room for everyone. By far our favorite feature was the large wrap around porch. We spent practically every minute were not our exploring on the porch. Morning coffee, sometimes lunch, afternoon wine, after dinner wind down. It is perfect! The photos that you see on the listing are very accurate and you will not be disappointed. The downtown area is walkable and the nearby beach area as well. I can't recommend this accommodation highly enough. Thanks to Tobias and Christine for offering their lovely home for our family's vacation."

Mid-Coast & Islands Travel Tips

Maine Rentals for Picturesque Convenience

If you are looking for a vacation destination that is charming and rustic, consider booking one of the many Maine rentals. This small but robust state has a wealth of attractions to offer. For a short stay in Maine, consider one of the cozy Maine cottages. If you are planning to stay longer, other Maine lodging options may be better choices.

Maine Rentals Are Full of Amenities

The rugged coastline of Maine, dotted with picturesque lighthouses, will provide you with a vacation like no other. To truly make the most of your time here, it is important to make sure that you have selected the best Maine lodging. While you could certainly rent a hotel room, Maine rentals such as vacation homes and Maine cottages provide so many additional benefits. After spending a long day exploring the coastline, checking out the quaint shops and treating yourself to Maine lobster, it will be nice to be able to return back to a comfortable vacation rental. Most of the rental homes in the state provide amenities that you will not find in hotel rooms, such as full kitchens, spacious living areas, fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs.

Maine Cottages Offer So Much to Do nearby

During your time in Maine, you may wish to take one of the historical tours offered in many of the towns throughout the state. This is a great way to learn more about the local area. Another option to consider is getting in some time fishing or boating, both of which are quite popular throughout the state. Your Maine rentals will be conveniently located for you to enjoy all of these activities.

Maine Lodging in the Fall

If you plan your trip to Maine during the fall, there is simply nothing better than taking a scenic drive through the byways and enjoying the glorious fall foliage. After returning to one of the Maine cottages you have rented, build a roaring fire and snuggle under a cozy blanket. Bookings for Maine lodging can be easily made online, allowing you many cottages or larger vacation homes to choose from for your upcoming trip.
