  • Gorgeous house and stunning views!

"This house was gorgeous inside and out- it had fantastic views from the floor-to-ceiling windows on the mountain facing side (including the two-story living room), and a stunning breakfast bar (likely made from a tree from the property, though I'm not sure on that one!). The rooms were all good-sized and most had their own temperature control so everyone could stay comfortable, and the three full bathrooms were useful for large groups. We had stunning views of the foliage, and I can imagine it being gorgeous in the winter or summer as well! Our group of 9 adults was very comfortable, and I think another one or two could have stayed without anyone needing a top bunk; for families with teens or children, 13 would be comfortable. The owner was accommodating and responsive to work with on our stay. The only cons/things to be aware of: the walls were on the thin side so conversations carry pretty well through the house - we turned our fan on so it took a lot of noise to bother us, though! Also, 4WD is recommended in the winter but the driveway is pretty steep - those of us with manual transmissions got the trick down pretty quickly of hitting the driveway in second gear to make it up all the way, but I would drive an automatic if you can! Overall, we had an awesome, fun stay, and thought the house was better than the wedding venue :-)"

  • LOVED Maine and Kiwi Lodge

"My husband and I have always wanted to visit Maine and eat lobster. However, we live on a small farm in Illinois and prefer a country setting vs. coastal setting. I found Kiwi Lodge after much research. It was immaculate inside and out, best stocked cooking kitchen we have ever rented, comfy beds, nicely furnished, cozy! The owner had furnished us with a lot of information before we arrived about the area and there was also info when we arrived. The free wifi was great for researching too. We loved Farmington and got groceries and had our lobster steamed while we shopped. We really enjoyed fishing from canoe and taking the paddle boat out too. We grilled fresh tuna on the outdoor gas/charcoal grill and ended a couple of evenings with a campfire by the lake. It was so quiet and secluded, but we heard the loons, photographed the ducks and listened to fish jumping. We took day trips to Rangeley for scenery, Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park for some great history, South Portland for a day of searching and photographing lighthouses and even found The Porthole where Guy visited from Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and visited York and several other coastal towns. Just a great dream vacation! Only complaint...just wish it wasn't so far, because we would love to come back. We are 55, but I would recommend for any age as the house is equipped for a family too with games, inside and out, video consoles, tv, wifi and exploring nature."

  • Maine at it's best!

"It doesn't get much better than spending time in the mountain region on a crystal clear pond in a dream vacation home. The views, the decks, dock and fire pit made for a great vacation for us all."

  • Exceeded expectations

"We came to Maine for a family wedding and traveling with an infant and 8 family members so we decided to rent a house. Lucky for us we found this one because it exceeded all of our expectations. We enjoyed every minute we stayed there and we wished we could have stayed for longer. The house is beautiful with amazing views of the lake and they even have a canoe for you to use. We hope to be able to come back when it is warm enough to jump in the water. The owners were wonderful and quickly responded to all questions and the house had everything we needed including directions to LL Bean and a pack n play for my son."
