  • Great place for families on a quiet pond. Serene setting with a nice sandy beach at water's edge.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Papoose Pond. The home was comfortable and well-stocked. We really had everything we needed; from comfy beds to a small sailing dinghy & canoe. Blueberry & raspberry picking along the road was so fun! We had a great time exploring the pond in the canoe, and the surrounding area on bicycles. Water was perfect for small kids, shallow water with a sandy area for playing. Owners were helpful and responsive to questions/problems. They called to check in the first afternoon we were in the house to make sure we were finding what we needed. We had a small plumbing problem while we were there and it was fixed within the day by their local caretakers. We happened to be in town while the 'Waterford World's Fair' was going on about 10 minutes away, the kids loved it! We had ten people in the house for two of the nights we stayed there, and it accommodated everyone very well. We'd definitely stay there again."

  • wonderfully relaxing

"My family has been renting here for 7 years and it is the highlight of our summer. Plenty of room for the kids to spread out, well stocked and the lake is perfect! The owner, Paul, is responsive and his support staff in Maine are wonderful, we had a small issue with the hot tub this year and the maintenance men worked hard to get it fixed so we could enjoy it during our stay. The remodeled kitchen work was needed and it is truly remarkable the difference it makes in the home, open, clean and so easy to enjoy meals with a large group. We can not wait to come back next summer, thanks so much Paul for sharing your wonderful home!"

  • Perfect Family Thanksgiving

"This was our first Thanksgiving all together as a family!! We were so excited from the moment that we reserved the house until the morning we had to pack up and leave. We had 8 adults and 3 kids and could have had more! There was plenty of room for everyone to be together or to have a quiet place of their own if desired. Gretchen was so accommodating right from the beginning and helped to make sure that all our questions were answered prior to arrival. The house and grounds are immaculate and when we woke to 10" of snow on Thanksgiving morning, the driveway was already plowed. The winter scene was out of a storybook and we hope to visit again soon! We love the Bingham House!"

  • Perfect getaway

"I brought my husband here as a surprise for his 40th birthday. His eyes POPPED when we drove up. The house is so gorgeous, smells like a cedar chest, and is so relaxing! We did a quick grocery run at the local store in Bethel (about 15 minutes away) but there was spices, coffee filters, olive oil, etc at the cabin. We enjoyed our coffees on the porch each morning and soaked in the sun in the afternoons. We ventured out a few times to eat. I would recommend pizza at "Home Slice Pizza" (VERY GOOD) and the gelato at "DiCocoa's" (If you are a vegetarian, get a little of everything to eat....no kidding. That's what I did!) Scott sent instructions for a hiking trail off of the road, but we never ended up finding it (we bushwhacked most of the time. hahaha). We took the kayaks out another day and were the only ones on the lake. There was a full moon one night and sitting on the deck, listening to the loons, with the full moon shining...pure magic. Although the point was to unplug and get away, my husband was able to watch the patriots game (although the remote didn't work, we figured it out through the tv)"
