  • Great week at the Shire

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week on Rangely Lake at the "Shire." The cabin is adorable and comfortable, right on the lake. Jeannine and Bob made us feel welcome. It was great to have a canoe and kayaks available as well as outdoor grill and table. Swimming was too cold for me, but my husband loved it. There is a lot to do in the Rangely area on the lakes and in the mountains and streams (great fly fishing). Good restaurants, a theater and shopping, too."

  • Beautiful Home!

"We had a wonderful stay at this home for a week in August. It is a beautiful updated home with all the modern conveniences you could ask for. Very Clean!!! Plenty of room for everyone! The spot on the lake is perfect. It is set back with an incline to get to the dock so keep in mind it might not be suitable for elderly or those that have trouble. The house isn't set back so much that you can't see the lake though. The whole backside of the house offers beautiful views. The yard is perfect for playing catch or using the croquet and bocce sets that came with the house. The owner was fabulous to work with and had answers to every question. The area is perfect too. Short drive to Windham for groceries and restaurants. North Conway is only about a 50 minute drive making it the perfect day trip. We liked the house and lake so much though, that we spent most of our time down on the dock, fishing, swimming and just relaxing! Would definitely recommend this home to our friends. We hope to rent again as well!"

  • Dad with 2 boys, 4 wheeling and bird hunting Oct 2014

"We have been going to the Eustis area for years and am so thankful that we found this home to stay in. In the past, we have stayed at the Spill Over Motel, which was great. But there is no comparison to having your own kitchen and much more room then a motel. The place is very charming and cozy, we really loved it. My 10 year set up his wild life camera and we have video of deer in the back yard which came out around 10:00 PM. We liked it that we were on a private dirt road, away from the main road, but there were a few neighbors in sight just in case you needed something, which we didn't. The lot is nice and private. I liked the location, since I didn't want to be way out in the woods. The place is spotless; the shower is roomy with plenty of hot water. There is a 'bear' theme throughout, which my kids loved. We fished for just a few hours in Flagstaff lake and used the pier at "Pines Market" which is an easy 5 miles north of the property. My sons caught some good sized togue type fish. You can find most anything you need there at that Pines Market. We did not 4 wheel from the property as we were not familiar with trails from that location; instead we headed to the Jim Pond area, which we knew better. If I were to ski Sugarloaf, I would definitely stay here, as it is, as reported, 6.8 miles from the entrance, which translates into just 6-7 minutes as the road is very good. We saw deer at the end of the road during the early AM hours. We were provided with a crock pot & coffee maker and assorted nice dishes and other cook ware as well as a gas grill, which worked great. There is a restaurant right at the entrance to the camp's road "Choplin House"?, but we did not get to try it. It looked like there was a nice pub in there too. It would be walking distance if the weather was favorable, maybe it is 3/10ths of a mile away. For good pizza and sandwiches head north for about a mile and look for the gas station on the left that looks like they would sell other things besides gas. The camp has wood wide pine floors, tongue and grove pine walls and ceilings and looks really good. During warmer weather there is a cute porch with a little TV. I would highly recommend staying here except if you want to stay the dates I want to go next October, and then please stay at the Spill Over :-). You won’t know what you are missing so we will both be happy. I have rented about 6- 8 times through VRBO and have always had great experiences, like w/ this one."

"My husband and I have stayed in this beautifully maintained house many times over the last few years. We've enjoyed weekends with our children and have even had a few family reunion vacations. Even when we've stayed with two or three other families, the house never seems crowded. Lots of space! The kids love the loft, love going on morning walks looking for the moose that sometimes makes an appearance and playing all the games at night that Carol keeps at the house. We also love the fact that although you feel like you are privately deep in the woods, it's very close to quaint gift shops, antique shops and sits right at the bottom of the mountain. My husband has gone ice fishing in winter as well! We simply love going up to Carol's house Winter or Summer!!!!"
