"My family and I recently visited this gorgeous home for a long weekend in September for a family wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful, the views are breathtaking, and the private location lends itself to a peaceful retreat and getaway. The property has its own beach that is gorgeous and is great for wading and exploring at low tide. This was our first experience on Homeaway and the experience was wonderful. The homeowner was a delight to work with and I look forward to rebooking this home for another visit very soon."

  • Paradise!

"This home is a little piece of paradise! Tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable with plenty of room but what really made it standout was the views from all sides of the house, which is perched on a peninsula. Water, water everywhere from every window! The location is great - easy access to Brunswick's great shops, restaurants and galleries and pretty close to the Freeport outlets and other interesting Maine coast towns. The house itself has great flow for both relaxing and entertaining. On a chilly night, we sat around the cozy fireplace. There's also a screened porch where we had cocktails and dinner while gazing at the sunset. And there's even a dock for boating and swimming! The owner has thought of everything: fluffy towels, luxurious bed linens, a fully equipped kitchen -- all which helped make our stay extremely enjoyable. Would love to return this summer!"

  • Great View!

"My Fiance and I recently stayed at the Talbot Cottage. I is a wonderful rustic cottage overlooking a bay/river. Over the course of an hour you can watch the tide change as it rises or falls several feet. At night you can sit on the deck and see all the stars, or enjoy the outdoor fire pit. Or cozy up to the indoor fireplace. The cottage is ideally located between the towns of Freeport, where there are several outlets, and Portland. If we have the opportunity we would love to go back and visit the Talbot Cottage again. Give it a try. I think you'll like it."

  • Can't wait to come back!

"Our family of six had a fabulous time at this lovely cottage. The location of the cottage was private and the views were spectacular. The house is sturdy and spacious. We could not have asked for more. The fellas hit golf balls into the bay at low tide and the rest of us had a blast looking for them before the water came in. We made day excursions to Georgetown Pottery and Popham Beach and fort (so special!) -- but mostly we loved to sit on the porch or in the comfortable adirondack chairs on the grass, and talk and laugh. We liked Frank enormously -- he was available to answer questions anytime but never hovered. We recommend this cottage without reservation -- you can't find a nicer place in Maine. I am going to hear the waves lapping in the shore of my dreams all year."

Portland & Casco Bay Travel Tips

Portland Vacation Rentals for a Year-Round Tourist Destination

As a year-round tourist location, it’s hard to beat Portland and Casco Bay in Maine. Portland vacation rentals are ideally placed for this culturally and historically rich area. Day and night, the bustling Portland harbor is buzzing with activity, with tourist boats coming and going, fishermen at work and restaurants filled with people. Choose a Casco Bay lodging choice near the harbor to be in the middle of the action. You will find a Maine lodging choice to suit any family or group of friends looking for a vacation in this scenic area.

Portland Vacation Rentals in the Largest of Maine’s Cities

Portland is the largest of Maine’s cities and it is the hub of its renowned art community. Thus, Portland vacation rentals are in one of the most sought-after locations in the region. Dating from the 1800s, the Old Port is now a high-class shopping area with a wide variety of restaurants around your Casco Bay lodging choice. The city takes its heritage seriously and buildings around your Maine lodging choice are maintained to an exceptionally high standard.

Casco Bay Lodging for Ferries and Hot Air Balloons

A benefit to Portland vacation rentals is their proximity to the ferries to Nova Scotia. It’s worth jumping a ferry to head off to Casco Bay’s Calendar Islands for a great day out. The adventurous traveler in a Casco Bay lodging choice might prefer to undertake a slightly more unusual mode of travel and opt for a hot air balloon trip as a novel way to see the region. Staying in Maine lodging, you will wonder how many times you will have to return before you’ve seen it all!

Maine Lodging For Culture for Kids

For the culturally minded, there are so many museums and so much history here that you will struggle to fit it all in within just one vacation. Portland vacation rentals cater for the culturally minded children too with their own museum. From Casco Bay lodging you will find an amazing variety of walks and excursions to be undertaken. While staying in a Maine lodging, there is also the chance to see the Portland Pirates play hockey or the Sea Dogs if baseball is your game.
