  • Quiet getaway for two

"If you're looking for the real Maine, the Maine that's not the T-shirt-and-trickets tourist atmosphere of Camden, Boothbay, and Bar Harbor, the Maine of friendly people, fresh-off-the-boat seafood, bracing hikes, gorgeous scenery, quiet waterfront mornings and evenings, go to Harpswell. And if you are two, stay in this cozy cottage on Quahog Cove off Harpswell Island Road. Within driving distance to all the ordinary sites -- we had lattes in Camden, bought art in Brunswick, visited the Wyeth collection in Rockland, toured Boothbay's old neighborhoods -- "Cozy" is perfect for an intimate week for two. The cottage is well appointed: the bed is comfortable, the little porch is perfect for a 5:00 wine (or two), the bathroom is more than we expected for so small a cottage, the dock is inviting, and sunrise over the cove was worth the price in itself. Even in mid-October, the cottage was toasty and comfy. Additional and unexpected: a French press coffee maker, a huge closet, a huge shower, a fully furnished kitchen, and lobstermen who work their traps practically in your front yard every morning. And John and Karen had fresh flowers awaiting us. The cottage was spotless and well maintained. After two days, it felt like home. A delightful week away."

  • Can't wait to return!

"Just stayed here for my 30th birthday with close family and friends, spent one night staying in at the house and the other night going out to Portland. Property was beautiful, spacious yet cozy, and clean. It looks exactly like the photos :) I had so much fun cooking here as it had my dream kitchen! There were some drawbacks - shades did not adequately block out light making it difficult to sleep in and walls are pretty thin (i.e. you could hear everything). Despite this, I would definitely recommend staying here and everyone is already talking about going back!"

  • Wonderful weekend getaway!

"A group of friends stayed at Aberdeen for a weekend, and we all agreed we wished it was longer (like forever!). The location is absolutely stunning, and while it is remote and secluded it was fairly easily accessible, even in the winter weather. The house is beautifully decorated and very homey, and there was more than enough space for our group of 10. We spent most of our time in the livingroom, gazing at the view and thoroughly enjoying the woodstove. A lot of our visit centered around cooking, and the kitchen is well equipped and large enough for many people to be in it at once. Leading up to our trip, Natalie and her family were very friendly and quick to answer questions about the home and logistics, making the planning process very easy. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone, and hope to come back one day!"

  • A beautiful spot on the Maine coast

"Our family (2 adults, and 2 kids (10 and 11) spent a wonderful week here. As others have said, the house is comfortable, roomy, and well-equipped for a relaxing vacation. After just a couple of days, we realized that a week wasn't going to be enough. Lilliana is a gracious host, the grounds and gardens are beautiful, and the location cannot be beat. The house is on the coast, down a country road, but just 10 minutes from downtown Brunswick and an easy drive to numerous mid-coast attractions. We never got to take advantage of the kayaks and canoes, but will on our next visit. We had a wonderful vacation and look forward to returning again."
