  • Maine: The way we thought it should be

"Lofty, overlooking Quahog Bay (Harpswell, Maine) was a new experience that we were looking forward. We were not disappointed . . . how could you be. Lofty’s setting is authentic, coastal Maine -- tall trees, slowly rising and falling tidal waters 30 feet below, the distant sound of an early morning work boat chugging up the bay, incredible sunrises rises that made us rise early to prepare for the sun’s next performance, and an occasional loon calling from the far shoreline. The cottage was perfectly designed to take full advantage of an unspoiled scene provided by nature. Large windows in the eat-in kitchen and living room area with an adjoining expansive deck invite keeping track of outdoor activities – boats and birds and slowly moving ripples on the often placid water. Another smaller, more private deck opens off of the master bedroom. Lofty’s convenient location is about a 10 minute drive from Cooks Corner’s shopping, gas, restaurants, and highway connectivity to Brunswick, Bath, Freeport, Rockland, and beyond. Do you want to get out into nature? Great sites are a short drive away along with cultural destinations, such as the Maine Maritime Museum and museum and gallery on the Bowdoin College campus. Eateries, if you don’t feel like cooking in Lofty’s well equipped kitchen, are wide-ranging in their offerings and price in Bath and Brunswick and only 15-20 minutes away. For a real treat there’s Cook’s on Bailey’s Island. A bright, clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished home with responsive owners who obviously want guests to make the most of their time at Lofty and in Maine. Thanks John and Karen. We hope to return."

  • Wonderful Family Holiday

"Great place to stay. We were welcomed with beautiful freshly cut and arranged flowers in the rooms. Wood supplied free of charge for the evening fire pit . Fresh breezes from the sea and a wonderful place to relax."

  • Perfect fall getaway!

"I rented Tim's amazing home for my boyfriend's birthday to give us a little R&R after a very busy summer. I couldn't have chosen better! The house is about 1.5 miles from "town" so was very quite and peaceful, but still convenient for going out to dinner, grabbing groceries, and getting to and from the ferry. We enjoyed the porch, dock, and living area for many hours of lounging and reading. The sunsets were particularly beautiful from the dock. The cottage was equipped with anything we needed to cook meals (which we did most of the time!) and a comfy bed very good nights rest. Best of all, it only took us about 2.5 hours to get to the house from Boston, but you felt very far away from everyday life. I would recommend leaving your car in Portland (there are a couple $10 per day lots) and taking advantage for the taxi and bike that Tim so gratefully provides. Can't wait till out next visit!"

  • Week away... Long Island Maine

"We had a lovely time on Long Island in this home! The house is very nice, in a shady area, close to everything. The ice cream/sandwich shop, the dock/ferry landing, the community center, Fowler's Beach, South Beach, herb/veggie farm stand, gift shop, yoga studio, the general store, etc. We hitched a ride up with hill with Chub's Blue Bus, and rented a golf cart later in the week. VERY FUN! The house slept us comfortably, we cooked out each night, made s'mores in the fire pit, biked all around, etc. Next time we hope for two weeks on Long Island."
