  • Superb Getaway

"Thoughtful amenities; all conveniences. Immaculate, comfortable, quiet. Hosts friendly, but considerate of privacy. Near all on picturesque, pastoral Cape Elizabeth while close to artsy Portland and Casco Bay. We had a fabulous week-long vacation with this property as our "home" base. Far exceeded our expectations. You couldn't ask for more in Southern Maine.Enjoy!"

  • Private Retreat

"This cozy cottage sits at the end of a dirt road at the north end of the island. From the porch, one can watch the lobster boats work while the sun rises over a distant lighthouse. Though up on a bluff in the trees, the cottage is close enough that you can hear the clang of the bell bouy and the voices of the lobstermen as they haul their pots. Inside you'll find a spacious master addition with easterly views of Casco Bay, a well-appointed kitchen, a nice bath with shower, and just out back a private outdoor shower, an island necessity. Upstairs there are plenty of bedrooms and a second bath, giving the feeling of a small bed and breakfast. Back downstairs, you can sit and read by a roaring fire, or enjoy the deep wicker chairs on the porch. Rent a golf cart or bikes for getting around, but use the taxi to haul your crew and bags from the ferry and more importantly, back to the ferry on the day of your relutant departure. The cabin is purely a summer place, with plenty of windows, beam and board construction, modern essentials such as a land line and free wi fi, and no television, a true plus. Although there are neighbors kitty corner across the cul de sac, the house is encircled on three sides by the open ocean vista and deep woods, giving kids plenty of room to roam and explore. We'd welcome the chance to return for a longer stay. Warning: There's a market for most items you could need, but if you want to cook lobsters and steamers, you'll have to bring them from town. Whole Foods will also ship to the ferry for pick up at the landing."

  • A Most Excellent Stay!

"We were guests at this wonderful coastal Maine retreat for a four week period earlier this Spring. We arrived with snow on the ground, and all was prepared for our arrival. We made a fire in the wonderful fireplace, and relaxed in the stillness of the Maine woods...what a wonderful location. Close to Freeport, Brunswick and Portland, the setting was perfect. We shopped at Whole Foods in Portland, cooked our meals in this cozy kitchen, and ate our meals in the breakfast nook watching the trees / wind / snow throughout our stay. We saw deer and wild turkeys as well as a dark starry sky and even a full moon! The beds were comfortable, and the garage provided protection during some stormy days. A perfect way for us to visit family close by and have a wonderful Easter dinner for all. Thank you Wayne for sharing such a wonderful getaway!!"
