"This home is a perfect place to stay on Peaks - close to the ferry and the businesses on the island, but feels secluded with a beautiful view of the water from the back porch. The inside is charming, and everything we needed was there, with excellent instructions and lots of info on the area. The hot tub on the back deck looked inviting, but it was unseasonably warm so we did not use it. Just a couple of things to be aware of - as noted in the property description, the 2 bedrooms upstairs are adjoining, so you have to walk through the master to get to the smaller bedroom. (This was not an issue for us as were all family.) Both bedrooms have doors to the master bath upstairs which is huge and beautiful. The double shower with the tile is amazing, but just note that it does not have an enclosure or curtain around it. And if you have any physical limitations, the stairs to the upstairs are a bit steep as is common in older homes. We didn't do any cooking while we were there, but the kitchen was fully equipped and gorgeous also. All-in-all we loved staying there and would love to stay there again!"

"This is a lovely, perfectly situated home away from home for anyone visiting Portland. Richard is an excellent host, readily available to help you make your stay as enjoyable as can be. Walk out the front door and in a minute you are in the heart of excellent dining, museums, galleries, shops, and everything Portland has to offer. Had a wonderful time and hope to be able to return."

"We had a very nice time at the Orr's Cottage. Beautiful area, and a 45 minute drive to Portland where we had amazing meals every night. We had lunch every day down the road at Morse's Cribstone Grille where we had the best lobster rolls we've ever had - and killer cocktails as well.
The cottage was clean, roomy and very well stocked up with kitchen items, towels, pillows, linens, lawn chairs, games, puzzles, etc. Beautiful kitchen! Had we been there longer and weren't so set on so many Portland restaurants I would have cooked a few meals there. The hard water was not a big deal at all. I grew up with well water and just because it has a mineral smell to it (smells like pennies a little) doesn't mean it's dirty. In fact, my skin and hair felt better from the water there than after showering at home in Boston city water.
The house was a little musty smelling when we arrived but as soon as we opened windows and turned on fans it was fine. It's a humid area so maybe the house would benefit from a dehumidifier in between guests when the windows are closed.
There is no longer satellite TV, just an Amazon Firestick so you can access Netflix and Hulu. It was a little hard to use and would freeze during movies sometimes. The WIFI worked great though.
The Orr's and Bailey's Island area is stunning and offers ample hiking trails and walks (Cliff Walk, Devil's Back, Giant's Stairs and Bowdoin Coastal Studies center are all highly recommended). Everywhere was dog friendly and our pup could be off leash the entire time. We saw blue herons and deer in the yard, and heard owls at night. Overall a perfect vacation. We hope to return to the same cottage next year."

"We stayed a week at this lovely house on a beautiful plot of land. Highlights were: kayaking and canoeing around the point, watching the Perseid meteor shower from the dock, enjoying sunset from the Adirondack chairs, and exploring the Brunswick area. The kitchen is fully equipped and the caretaker, Dan, was extremely helpful. I would think twice about bringing small children – there are a lot of breakables around, but aside from that we recommend it highly."
