"Some old college friends and I stayed here for a long weekend as a mini-reunion: 3 couples with 4 kids between us.
The house was spacious and immaculate, both inside and out. The cleanest and nicest vacation rental I've ever stayed in. There were 10 of us, and we had plenty of room to cook, hang out, or find space to be alone. It was very thoughtfully appointed -- lots of towels, and blankets, kitchenware, an ipod stereo, and even toys and books. The manager left lots of helpful notes (how to access wifi etc) and was very prompt about answering emails during the booking process.
The area is very quiet and residential. We were content to take walks and just hang out, but note we had to drive for food and the beach. Also note - we didn't get cell reception in the house, but there's a landline and wifi."

"Spacious home had everything we needed for our Canadian Thanksgiving vacation. My son is in his first year of college in Maine and so me, my wife and teenage daughter, sister and parents decided to bring Thanksgiving to him. This place had everything we needed for a wonderful family gathering in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room for everyone and convenient to many beautiful sites and hikes (the Cliff trail was minutes away and the family favorite). Loved watching the lobster boats while sipping morning coffee on the back deck. Great Maine experience - highly recommended!"

"My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights at the Lobsterman's Catch House and we loved it. Our dogs had a great time in the spacious and perfectly trimmed yard. The house is huge, beautifully furnished and well-stocked for anything you might need. The house, like many houses in the area, uses well-water which is rich in iron, so if you're not used to that, you should bring a jug or two of bottled water along with you. The owner has warnings clearly posted about the risk of washing clothing with iron-rich water, so we didn't have a problem. Isis, the owner, was super nice and accommodating. The house recently had a large deck built onto the side, so my girlfriend and I sat out there for hours with the dogs sipping iced tea and reading- it was really lovely. At night you can see all of the stars and hear the waves on the bay. We had a great time here and we will definitely return. We highly recommend this house for a lovely and relaxing get away."

"We had a very nice time at the Orr's Cottage. Beautiful area, and a 45 minute drive to Portland where we had amazing meals every night. We had lunch every day down the road at Morse's Cribstone Grille where we had the best lobster rolls we've ever had - and killer cocktails as well.
The cottage was clean, roomy and very well stocked up with kitchen items, towels, pillows, linens, lawn chairs, games, puzzles, etc. Beautiful kitchen! Had we been there longer and weren't so set on so many Portland restaurants I would have cooked a few meals there. The hard water was not a big deal at all. I grew up with well water and just because it has a mineral smell to it (smells like pennies a little) doesn't mean it's dirty. In fact, my skin and hair felt better from the water there than after showering at home in Boston city water.
The house was a little musty smelling when we arrived but as soon as we opened windows and turned on fans it was fine. It's a humid area so maybe the house would benefit from a dehumidifier in between guests when the windows are closed.
There is no longer satellite TV, just an Amazon Firestick so you can access Netflix and Hulu. It was a little hard to use and would freeze during movies sometimes. The WIFI worked great though.
The Orr's and Bailey's Island area is stunning and offers ample hiking trails and walks (Cliff Walk, Devil's Back, Giant's Stairs and Bowdoin Coastal Studies center are all highly recommended). Everywhere was dog friendly and our pup could be off leash the entire time. We saw blue herons and deer in the yard, and heard owls at night. Overall a perfect vacation. We hope to return to the same cottage next year."
