"Lofty, overlooking Quahog Bay (Harpswell, Maine) was a new experience that we were looking forward. We were not disappointed . . . how could you be. Lofty’s setting is authentic, coastal Maine -- tall trees, slowly rising and falling tidal waters 30 feet below, the distant sound of an early morning work boat chugging up the bay, incredible sunrises rises that made us rise early to prepare for the sun’s next performance, and an occasional loon calling from the far shoreline. The cottage was perfectly designed to take full advantage of an unspoiled scene provided by nature. Large windows in the eat-in kitchen and living room area with an adjoining expansive deck invite keeping track of outdoor activities – boats and birds and slowly moving ripples on the often placid water. Another smaller, more private deck opens off of the master bedroom.
Lofty’s convenient location is about a 10 minute drive from Cooks Corner’s shopping, gas, restaurants, and highway connectivity to Brunswick, Bath, Freeport, Rockland, and beyond. Do you want to get out into nature? Great sites are a short drive away along with cultural destinations, such as the Maine Maritime Museum and museum and gallery on the Bowdoin College campus. Eateries, if you don’t feel like cooking in Lofty’s well equipped kitchen, are wide-ranging in their offerings and price in Bath and Brunswick and only 15-20 minutes away. For a real treat there’s Cook’s on Bailey’s Island.
A bright, clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished home with responsive owners who obviously want guests to make the most of their time at Lofty and in Maine. Thanks John and Karen. We hope to return."
