  • Felt like home away from home

"The pictures do no justice in how awesome this cottage is. The cottage felt like home. The dock is just steps away from the cottage. We hanged out on the dock on our first night and almost every night. The moon was bright and had a cool breeze. We could just camp on that dock :) The cottage is very clean and comfortable. It has a nice full kitchen. Everything is close by grocery stores, breweries, restaurants and hiking trails. If you like shopping, the outlet mall and LL Bean are just a short drive. South Freeport road is a nice road to run/bike. There are barely any cars on the road and we saw plenty of people running and biking. Stephanie and John are wonderful hosts. They gave us good recommendations on restaurants and hiking trails. Even though they were just a few steps away, we felt that we had our privacy. If you need them they’re there but if not they just leave you be. Our trip to Freeport wouldn't have been this fun and relaxing if we have stayed somewhere else. I definitely recommend staying at their cottage."

  • Excellent Location

"We spent one week here with two young children and it was fantastic. The beach is a quick 5 minute walk, and once there you basically have it to yourself. You can actually hear the waves from the deck at the house. The house was also great, and Jill (owner) was very pleasant and easy to work with. Portland is 7 miles away and has many great restaurants and things to do as well."

  • Perfect Maine Vacation

"Great place for family to reconnect, whether playing croquet on the lawn surrounding the cottage, combing for seaglass in the small cove across the quiet road, playing board games, stargazing, or sharing early morning coffee on the porch. This cottage, located in a small community of 1920's era homes which have been owned and maintained in many cases by the same families for generations feels like a very special place. The neighbors are welcoming and always stop to share stories of the community or at the very least wave hello. This was our second visit to this cottage and we had an opportunity on this visit to meet many of the wonderful family members who own and maintain this well kept and clean cottage. The smell of the salt air will be the first thing that greets you as you climb out of your car but the memories you build here will last long beyond that. Great location for exploring the mid-coast of Maine as well."

  • Perfect Cottage Hideaway

"This charmer outdid all our hopes and expectations! First the basics: everything was clean, everything worked, and all the supplies/furnishings/appliances we might have needed were right where we needed them. Now, the extras: Inside is charming and comfortable with muted colors, lovely wall hangings, cozy places to relax. We found lots of books, DVDs and games on the shelves. Bird watchers won't want to miss this gem - the feeders outside the dining room window are always busy. The landscaping combined with privacy fencing lets you feel like you've gotten away from it all. A private yard is a safe place for little ones and the picnic table and grill make outside dining a cinch. We were close to the beach, the marshes, boating, and daily walks to bagel shops and a chowder house. What could be better?"

Portland & Casco Bay Travel Tips

Portland Vacation Rentals for a Year-Round Tourist Destination

As a year-round tourist location, it’s hard to beat Portland and Casco Bay in Maine. Portland vacation rentals are ideally placed for this culturally and historically rich area. Day and night, the bustling Portland harbor is buzzing with activity, with tourist boats coming and going, fishermen at work and restaurants filled with people. Choose a Casco Bay lodging choice near the harbor to be in the middle of the action. You will find a Maine lodging choice to suit any family or group of friends looking for a vacation in this scenic area.

Portland Vacation Rentals in the Largest of Maine’s Cities

Portland is the largest of Maine’s cities and it is the hub of its renowned art community. Thus, Portland vacation rentals are in one of the most sought-after locations in the region. Dating from the 1800s, the Old Port is now a high-class shopping area with a wide variety of restaurants around your Casco Bay lodging choice. The city takes its heritage seriously and buildings around your Maine lodging choice are maintained to an exceptionally high standard.

Casco Bay Lodging for Ferries and Hot Air Balloons

A benefit to Portland vacation rentals is their proximity to the ferries to Nova Scotia. It’s worth jumping a ferry to head off to Casco Bay’s Calendar Islands for a great day out. The adventurous traveler in a Casco Bay lodging choice might prefer to undertake a slightly more unusual mode of travel and opt for a hot air balloon trip as a novel way to see the region. Staying in Maine lodging, you will wonder how many times you will have to return before you’ve seen it all!

Maine Lodging For Culture for Kids

For the culturally minded, there are so many museums and so much history here that you will struggle to fit it all in within just one vacation. Portland vacation rentals cater for the culturally minded children too with their own museum. From Casco Bay lodging you will find an amazing variety of walks and excursions to be undertaken. While staying in a Maine lodging, there is also the chance to see the Portland Pirates play hockey or the Sea Dogs if baseball is your game.
