  • A Historic Property w/ Up-to-Date Amenities!

"A wonderful find! I booked a week to spend some vacation time in Maine with my Mom, and we had a fabulous stay. Our family has summer'd in the York area for more than 50 years, and we know the Long Sands and Short Sands areas well, but had never spent time in the York Harbor area before. One of the owners met us when we arrived. What a warm welcome! -- she gave us a tour and provided lots of helpful information about the area. This was definitely a quiet and peaceful place to stay, well away from the Short Sands craziness but close enough to visit when we wanted to.... The apartment was lovely -- immaculate, and fully equipped, with thoughtful touches throughout. The sun room was delightful, and we spent many evening hours reading, relaxing and enjoying the sunsets. The nearby Chapman Cottage (recently renovated by the York Harbor Inn and recommended by the owner) proved to be a great destination for Happy Hour drinks and small plates. Yum! And, of course no trip to York would be complete without the Goldenrod "salt water taffy show" -- which never fails to entertain old and young alike..."

  • Everything and more

"This is our third visit to the Lyman house and, as usual, everything was perfect. I stopped bringing linens and towels after our first vacation here because everything Anne has stocked is perfect! If you are looking for a place where you can walk in and relax, this is the place. The house is always clean and well kept. It is immediately apparent that the owners, Anne and Steve, want you to enjoy yourselves and they will most likely call to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. The lake is beautiful and right outside the back door, fishing is great, and your kids will keep themselves busy with the paddleboat. If you want to leave the simplicity of the lake house you can visit nearby Kennebunkport, Ogunquit or Old Orchard Beach, and be sure to go to Shaker Pond Ice Cream in Alfred! The best homemade ice cream!! Thank you Anne and Steve, we'll be back next year :)"

  • Great home in a peaceful beach community

"My family stayed at High View for a week in July. We have been going up to Maine for years, but this year needed to find a new home that fit our needs (i.e. an 8 month old baby and a 80lb golden retriever). Stakes were high and our wish list was long. I'm so glad we took a chance on High View. Jonathan and Carrie were very responsive to our questions and made the booking process smooth. The home itself is great. Tastefully decorated, fully stocked with essentials for cooking, clean and bonus...baby proofed! It's located just steps to the beach, which is essentially private to the street. Low tide is incredible - you can literally walk to the nearby islands and explore. It's the perfect home if you have very young kids or older family members, as you can come and go from the beach as you please without having to pack everything up. The area itself is just beyond UNE, filled with lovely beach homes & cottages. The area even made for very serene and picturesque morning jogs before we hit the beach. All in all, it met our expectations and more. We hope to return next year!"

  • Great for our large family

"This house was great for our summer family vacation. We are three generations, ages 3 to 60+. Throughout the week we had 9-11 adults and 5 children. The kids (cousins ages 3 – 8) like to camp out in one bedroom, so that left plenty of bedrooms for everyone else. The house was so large that we never felt crowded (we joked that we would need GPS to find the kids). There was a bathroom for each bedroom, so that was a luxury compared to other houses we’ve rented. The house was a short walk to the beach. At the beginning of the week the beach had a lot of seaweed from a recent storm, so we used the public beach (which had lifeguards, which was a bonus) just down the road. At the end of the day we used a car to get the beach gear back but most of us would walk back up the beach to return to the house. The area was very nice and quiet. The kids were able to ride their bikes around the neighborhood every day. The small back yard was mostly the parking area, but we found a table in the basement that we put out there and that’s where we usually all gathered for dinner. There’s a local market with fresh lobster and other food. Very nice people but expensive as small markets usually are. Supermarkets and large stores are about 20 minutes away in Biddeford. The owner was very nice and helpful. We’d never been to the area so he answered several emails about the location and the house, and met us at the beginning of the week. It was a great week, a great house, very welcoming owner. We would definitely rent again."
