  • What a Great Cottage

"We had such a great time - the cottage is cozy, but has everything that you could need for a getaway! We fell in love with the charm of the cottage and the lake, and hope to visit again! Thank you Kim for everything! Jen & Doug (and pups Dewey & Daisy)"

  • Quiet family vacation

"This property met our needs perfectly. As advertised, the house is a bit older, but very cozy and comfortable - like visiting your grandparents. Everything is clean and functional, and there was plenty of room for our family of 4. The neighborhood is quiet, but close to all the York-area highlights, and was a great place to "come home to" after a busy day at the beach or exploring further along the coast. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of a typical beach vacation, while having everything close by. Be sure to visit the Cliff Walk, especially just before sunset."

  • Bucolic, Pastoral, Idyllic

"What more need be said than the adjectives in the title. This was a fantastic vacation hide-away retreat. Only minutes from beautiful Kennebunkport/Cape Porpoise, this was a most wonderful place to stay. We imagined what we thought it would be like, but nothing expressed our joy when we actually had the experience of staying in this historic schoolhouse. The house was laced with beautiful eclectic furniture and Wendy (the owner) had a number of her own pottery pieces throughout the lovely transposed home. There was certainly the feel of being at the sea with a unique "Mermaid' theme and presence. My wife and I especially loved the beautiful Mermaid sink basin that was caste by Wendy. You could feel the homey warmth of the place and her personal touches and comfortable big bed was a treasure to lay in after a very active day. Her kitchen provided everything we needed with at least two sun porches and an extra bedroom if anyone had children. We diurnally looked forward to returning to our little red rented schoolhouse at the end of the day. Wendy was a most wonderful host and even gave us some fantastic tomatoes which we found in a basket on the porch one morning. She said she had a "bumper crop" and they provided us with at least three wonderful meals. All in all, it was one of the best vacation experiences we ever had and worth every penny. If you are looking for a somewhat quiet, placid retreat, you can't go wrong staying at the little red schoolhouse. It is far removed from being tight, cramped or confining. It truly felt like our home away from home and we hope to have the experience of staying there again in two or three years. Thank you Wendy for giving us a most memorable experience!!!"

  • EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR A WEEK IN OGUNQUIT

"The upstairs apartment was so clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay at such a reasonable price. The location was perfect, just steps away from the trolley stop and a block or so from the Footbridge. We walked almost every day from the footbridge to enjoy the Marginal Way. Then, Perkins Cove welcomed us at the end of the walk. What a lovely place. We ate at the Lobster Shack and Oarweed. One of our days, we so enjoyed sailing with Captain Jack on Silver Linings. Most days we walked back along the Marginal Way experiencing the local shops and great dining in the little village. Thank you to the owners for this great place to stay! We hope to return."
