  • Exceptional

"Just finishing up a short stay in this lovely home. We enjoyed our time here very much. From the fully equiped kitchen with cozy, yet elegant surroundings to the long dock with Adirondack chairs for enjoying a beautiful sunset-it is all here-everything you'd want a vacation home to have and more. My husband and I enjoyed our first night's dinner on the dock watching the sunset. The next morning we each went kayaking to discover Harris creek. On a rainy day we read books from the many choices available in the built in bookcases that line the family room. Enjoying the waterfront views and swaying trees in the wind was a fun past time also. What a wonderful find! The owner is easy to communicate with and available for any questions you might have. (The decorating is such a treat to take in-truly). We will leave with wonderful memories of our time here..... Don't miss a visit if you can."

  • great house

"We had a great time with extended family. The layout of the house works wonderfully for multiple families to spread out. The yard was huge and allowed for many games, and the pool allowed us to cool off. It was just far enough from st michaels where it was secluded and quiet, but close enough that we could still enjoy going there to eat and shop. A wonderful house and we will definitely want to use it again when we vacation to st michaels."

  • Great getaway for a family of 18

"Our group of 18 (ages 3 weeks to 72 years) had a wonderful week at the Swan's Nest! The 18 of us slept very comfortably in the 6 bedrooms. The house itself was beautifully kept and comfortable. There was plenty of space for eating in the dining room and in the enclosed porch, and several of us at a time were able to talk and cook in the kitchen. The land surrounding the house was spacious and quiet, so our young kids and dog were able to run and play to their hearts' content. The adults spent a lot of time visiting in the two living rooms and porch, and the kids frequently retreated to the upstairs living room to play games together. As you can tell from the above, the quantity of space for sleeping, eating, playing, and talking attracted us to the property, and we were very satisfied to find that our expectations in this regard were exceeded. During a single week we only had the chance to scratch the surface of the activities that were available onsite. We spent a lot of time fishing and, thanks to the owner Hap's expert counsel, were able to catch dozens of fish during the week. Hap also instructed us in the usage of the crab pots, advice which resulted in the collection of several prime crabs; we visited the local seafood shop to augment our catch and used the house's steamer to prepare a feast on our last day. This was a new and delicious experience for us all! Other popular activities throughout the week included volleyball and ping pong (permanent areas available for both), card games, canoeing, playing in the sand, s'more-roasting by the river, and lying in the hammock. Everything so far was available onsite; we also went on various outings throughout the week. We were impressed by the *excellent* community pool in Cambridge (huge pool, two water slides, and inexpensive snack bar). We had a nice time walking around downtown Cambridge, looking at historic buildings and cemeteries, sampling the brewery, stopping by the Harriet Tubman museum, and so on. Some of us took day trips to Ocean City and Assateague Island and had a great time at the beach. If we had had more time we would have visited the nearby towns of Easton and St. Michael's. The owner, Hap, was extremely helpful and reasonable and ensured that we had an excellent vacation. This was the perfect venue for our large family to reunite for our parents' 50th wedding anniversary and spend time relaxing together. We would heartily recommend the Swan's Nest for a similar occasion!"
