"What a wonderful vacation! House is beautiful and had everything we could possibly need. Enjoyed kayaking, swimming and just relaxing. Can't wait to go back. Thank you, Scotland Yards, for everything as usual!!"

"My husband and our <2 year old daughter stayed 4 nights at the Hideaway. We really enjoyed our time there. We kayaked in the bay and in the inlet/creek. We played in the waves and walked on the beach, exploring. We caught crabs and had them for dinner. We came across some nice locals who gave us some good tips for catching crab! AND, it was nice because everything we needed to prepare and eat them was right there in the cottage. (We did have to go buy a net though, and we left it there to pay it forward for future guests!)
On our first trip to the beach, we locked ourselves out. Luckily, my husband had his cell phone with Peggy's email and the property manager's numbers. They were literally at the cottage to help us out in less than 5 minutes! The cottage is beautifully decorated and had just about anything one would need, including lots of towels, washer/dryer with detergent, big TV with satellite and DVD player, and lots of comfy spots to sleep, sit, and hang-out. The beach was private. There were times when we were the only ones out there. At most, there may have been 8 other people on the beach strip. Backyard was private as well.
Suggestions and negative points:
--I would recommend adding some short of shower, water pump, or hose outside the Florida room. It would be nice to be able to get some of the sand off you before entering the cottage.
--Upgrade the toilet paper. Single-ply Scott TP is awful.
--Spray for bugs. We must have seen/killed dozens of creepy crawlies/worms in the cottage while we were there.
--Let people know they need to bring charcoal for the grill or upgrade to a gas grill.
--The shower in the smaller bath is ridiculously small. I had trouble showering in it, and I'm petite.
--There's a path to the creek in the backyard that is really un-usable and unsafe. I recommend fixing that up.
--We set the AC on 71/72, and it never got that cool in the house until after sundown, and it was always much warmer in the main bedroom.
--We were disappointed that the cottage was not directly on the beach. It was a short walk to the beach itself but a much longer walk to get to a point on the beach where you had room to sit or play on the sand (the tide was always pretty high). Not a big deal really unless you have small kids or you're carrying/dragging a kayak to the inlet/creek entry.
--The fireplace put out a really strong smell such that we ended up needing to cover it up with a shower curtain that we found in the house."

"This house was just perfect for our family gathering. We were a group of 4 families including 4 kids (3-12). The open layout of the house's main areas is great (and the décor is beautiful). The kitchen is huge and was more than fully stocked (even a Kitchen-Aid mixer and a Cuisinart food processor). We enjoyed crabbing, kayaking, playing in the sand and beach, watching the 3 amazing osprey on the old dock/pier next door, flying kites, and visiting all the area's historical landmarks. Would do it again."
