  • Peaceful family friendly Deep Creek Lake vacation

"My large family stayed here for a week in August. We had a wonderful time and found the home to be very well appointed. First the good stuff: it was stupendously clean; it is a great location; the community roads are flat and safe for kids to bike; it is very peaceful and quiet; it comes with plenty of extra pillows, blankets, air mattresses and such; there are enough dishes and the kitchen is very functional for the large number of people that can stay there; there are thoughtful touches like plenty of board games, poker chips, firewood and such. Staying there was much like staying at Great Wolf Lodge (well, decorated with bears instead of wolves) and I mean that in a good way. It was very functional, darn near bulletproof and reminded me of a hotel more than a house at times. Now the not so good stuff: when things are that durable then they aren't that comfortable. While the house was certainly large and nice, I don't think it can be described as a luxury rental. I thought the pool and hot tub were very small, although we certainly appreciated the heated pool water even in August. The gazebos are pondside, not lakeside. The golf course and mini golf were kind of lame. The house is not on the water (it backs up to woods/marsh) but for us that was a big bonus since we weren't bothered by the noise of powerboats. The lake itself is a short walk but the biggest letdown is that there is no way to really enjoy it except by kayak. I assumed that this was a "water privilege" neighborhood like you would find near Annapolis or Lake Anna and that there would be a place to swim or just at least sit by the lake. However, the community access was really just a place to put in a kayak and it felt like we were in someone's backyard. There was no way to enjoy the lake except to go to the crowded state park. Staying in the area for a week made realize that if you aren't directly on the lake shore then you are kind of out of luck."

  • An excellent place to stay --

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place has everything you could want (even a Cuisinart food processor). My husband, our three children and two spouses, and our 20-month grandchild joined in on a week at the lake and we all agreed that it’s the best lake house we’ve stayed in. We always spend a week or two on a lake each summer for the last 12 years. It’s a great house and property! The house is well maintained and nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable. My husband loved how the master bedroom was on a different wing of the house, very quiet. The common areas (dining, living, deck) are large. The deck is great and there is a well-maintained hot tub off it which we never used though it looked very inviting. You are set back from the lake, not too far. You see the lake from the house and deck and because of the way they landscaped the property you feel close. Instead of undergrowth under the trees they somehow have moss growing from the deck all of the way to the lake. It’s a magical! The property is pretty level, easy walking for the 20 month-old. There is an extensive dock and seating by the lake with a fire ring, very nice. Nice place to watch the sunset. You are pretty insulated from the neighbors. It’s quiet and secluded. We worked with Stevi Lutheran. She was marvelous in fielding our questions, etc. She’s top notch and made the rental process easy"

  • A Pleasant Stay I Wouldn’t Mind Repeating

"Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I would rent this home again! LOVED the hot tub. Direct TV, more than enough channels. DVD player worked fine. Wifi was excellent. Enjoyed spacious rooms. Location was nice. Neighbors were friendly. Kitchen was more than sufficient (try not to cook on vacation, but the option was nice). Porch swing, firepit and grill were other relaxing amenities. Washer/dryer looked pretty new, but I did not use them. Fireplace looked OK, but I didn't get to use it. House was clean. Beds comfortable. Carpets soft. The only thing that was not positive, the water pressure in both showers is very poor (showers took twice as long). If this was fixed, I'd give a 5 star rating all the way. The toilets are both hooked up to hot water instead of cold, not sure why that is…"
