  • Lovely Retreat!

"Wow, Lucinda's is an ideal owner/renter and her townhouse was is very well appointed, comfortable, charming, incredible proximity to the mtn! The TH had everything we needed, loads of space, perfect little fireplace, close proximity to some restaurants, I can't say enough good things. Can't wait to return! THANK YOU!!"

  • AMAZING DO NOT OVER LOOK!!

"Our stay 2/6/2014-2/9/2014-[4 adults (2 couples), & 1 child] This was an amazing cabin, the pictures do not do it justice! If you are looking for peaceful, rustic, no fuss, and affordable, this is it! If you are looking to cram tons of people, into an over priced vacation home, in order to split the cost, and make for an uncomfortable vacation, (which we have done before!), this is not it. The cabin is secluded, but within maybe a 5 minute drive from everything. It is clean, mattresses are spotless, plenty of linens, and there are other homes around, but you have to look hard to see them through the trees! For two couples this was perfect, the downstairs has a wonderful bedroom, and bath with a Jacuzzi tub. The kitchen/living area, has a beautiful stone floor, which appeared to be heated. Great for our yorkie, even with a wonderful dog, there are still no worries! A TV, and couches downstairs for your own personal living space. Upstairs a great room with TV and foosball table. So if you do vacation with another family you can have your private down time. The kitchen has more than you will ever use! And the hot tub and burning pit just added to the rustic feel. Bundling up and starting a fire outside, was great and we were all warm. We used the hot tub, and you don't even feel the cold! We went to the WISP, did tubing, the mountain coaster, we took a horse drawn sleigh ride, walked through the woods, played in the snow, and yes there are animals, we didn't see any, but early one morning we definitely heard something! From the visitors log, the months of April-October is bear season if you want to see the wildlife! This was an awesome, stress free, unbelievable vacation, and the best part was we went home with money!!!! Enjoy!"

  • Great house but very close to other houses

"Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was more than helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean and spacious. The outside area was very small and the other houses were right on top of you, when we checked in noticed the grill was completely unusable, but the realtor company did replace with a new one with many phone calls back and forth. Our last night there the central air went out, but it was a cool night so it was fine. Very close drive to marina and state park, was an overall great vacation, but be prepared it gets cold at nite!!!!"

Deep Creek Lake Travel Tips

Beauty Surrounds Deep Creek Lake Vacation Rentals

Deep Creek Lake is the largest man-made lake in Maryland. This vast 3,900-acre lake was created to provide water for the hydroelectric plant on the Youghiogheny (Yok-a-gainy) River and is now a favorite destination for kayakers, boaters and extreme sports enthusiasts. With a 65-mile shoreline and countless docks and homes overlooking the still waters, it makes a great alternative destination to the more crowded Maryland resorts along the Atlantic coastline. Surrounded by impressive forest-covered mountains, Deep Creek Lake is the perfect destination for those who enjoy watersports, nature and outdoor pursuits.

The Benefits of Deep Creek Lake Vacation Rentals

The most convenient way to stay on the shores of Maryland’s Deep Creek Lake is by renting a cabin or vacation home. Each individual rental home has its own views and makes the perfect base for outdoor activities in the area. At the end of the day, sit on the porch, relax by the fire and enjoy a home-cooked meal. Cabins come in various sizes to accommodate most families and many vacation homes are pet-friendly too. Enjoy the comfortable surroundings of a warm home with a full-size kitchen and plenty of living space so that each member of the family can do as they please. Vacation rentals are increasingly popular as they offer so much more for your money than smaller hotel rooms, especially if you share the cost of a cabin with family or friends.

Things to do Around Deep Creek Lake

Your Deep Creek Lake lodging in Western Maryland is well located for enjoying all the scenic beauty of the area. Being 2,466 feet above sea level, high in the Allegheny Mountains, the area does have snowfall in the winter and is great for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. In the summer, the lake provides the perfect environment for swimming, boating, fishing, whitewater rafting, ATV riding, horseback riding, shopping, hiking, biking and golf. If you want a great view of the area, consider an airplane ride from nearby Cumberland Regional Airport.

Getting to Your Deep Creek Lake Lodging

Getting to Maryland’s best-kept secret will require a car, especially to explore the area. Bring your own jet ski, kayak or boat to make the most of your McHenry lakeside vacation rental. Those visiting from further away should fly into Pittsburgh International Airport which is 90 miles from Swanton lodging. Hire a car or 4-WD vehicle and enjoy the drive to this beautiful area.

Places to Visit Around Deep Creek Lake Cabins

The lake has many small towns to visit such as McHenry, Thayersville and Hazelhurst. Here, you will find marinas, shops and restaurants with wonderful views across the lake. The area has a number of state parks such as Swallow Falls and Savage River State Park. They provide excellent amenities for enjoying all that the lake and forest has to offer, with the opportunity to experience nature at close quarters. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Waters and the Kentucky Knob homes are an hour’s drive from Deep Creek Lake, over the border in Pennsylvania. The unique formation of Waffle Rock at Jennings Randolph Lake is worth a visit. Take a trip on the Scenic Western Maryland Railroad or visit the C & O Canal and the Transport and Industry Museum in Cumberland.

Deep Creek Lake Weather

The summer months are cooler than the surrounding lowland areas, with average temperatures of 66 degrees Fahrenheit. During the winter, when temperatures drop to around 28 degrees Fahrenheit, there is plenty of snow on the mountains (around 82 inches in total) and spring arrives a little later than in other areas. The fall is a beautiful time to visit, with the trees turning vivid shades of red, gold and tan.

Other popular and affordable Maryland vacation destinations include Ocean City Maryland rentals, lodging in Annapolis, or St Michaels MD vacation homes. You will have no problem finding an ideal vacation rental home for your next Maryland family trip.
