  • Super with one exception

"The owner's description was entirely accurate, as was the exterior photograph. The house has many virtues--large (one enormous) rooms, a large deck overlooking a narrow portion of the Housatonic, which widens near the house; top of the line kitchen appliances and a bathroom whose fabulous shower could accommodate four friendly adults; clear labels on everything--tracklights, rooms, stairways, step-downs from room to room, kitchen cabinet contents, a wide range of kids' toys in a first floor living room w/ metal Franklin?(stove); any and all paper goods, cleansers, picnic provisions, hair dryers--you get the idea--nothing missing but a few vases & a cocktail shaker. Two parking spaces adjacent to house. Terrific! The exception: house is a few doors from a general store w/ outdoor seating. No later than 7 am, often earlier, workers drove up (noisy trucks), had breakfast coffee and LOUD conversations. Second floor bedroom fronts on sidewalk, ergo worker conversations. Friends who stayed one night in a rear bedroom on first floor made the same complaint. Bring industrial strength earplugs and a sense of humor. The owner was entirely helpful re questions. With the caveats of outdoor noise and the many stairs (often step-down single steps into rooms and baths, potentially hazardous for visually impaired or older people), the house is splendid. Except for the above, I'd recommend it to anybody. West Stockbridge is the opposite of Lenox, though nearby. A village of sorts with a few interesting shops and adequate restaurants. In August it celebrates a zucchini festival--old-fashioned, goofy, charming, extensive. It's close to Berkshire Botanical Garden--fabulous--and Norman Rockwell Museum--kitsch--and then there's Stockbridge itself, Lenox, et al. All the music, theatre and dance (Beckett--Jacob's pillow) you could ask for. It's great for families with teenagers because the kids can take over the 1st floor (family room w/ fireplace, games, super-big tv, bath, its own bathroom)-- only drawback--outdoor noise big time. Bring earplugs, watch the indoor single steps, have a dandy experience."

  • Great Vacation!

"Thank you for letting us rent your home! We and a wonderful family vacation! the 1822 house is a perfect spot for a large group who wants to be together, cook and enjoy all the the Berkshires has to offer. The home is large and spacious and you never feel crowded or on top of your fellow vacationers. It is stocked with all of the amenities one can need and is conveniently located next to food stores, shopping centers, and cute downtown business districts. We definitely recommend the Chili at the Pub at the Red Lyon Inn! Kevin, the property manager is very responsive and answers all questions immediately. we give this home two thumbs up!"

  • Beautiful House in the Woods!

"My girlfriend and I had a wonderful winter weekend in Holly's home in the Berkshires. The house is a very special place, and the pictures don't do it justice. Even though we came during a snow storm, we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub (with great views), the rustic house, and the wood burning stove. Holly was extremely helpful before and during our stay. We hope to enjoy this magical house again!"

  • Perfect home-base for your Berkshires adventure

"My partner and I had an amazing visit. The cottage was beautifully furnished - the kitchen in particular. Despite our busy vacation plans we carved out an evening to eat in and it was the best meal of our trip. Two great hikes nearby: Bartholomew's Cobble and Race Brook Falls. Of course Shakespeare & Co., Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood were amazing. Sheffield has a much slower pace compared to Lenox but has a Guido's and a Haven. We were happy to skip the crowds! A pleasant surprise. Highly recommended."
