  • Berkshire Gem!

"My husband and I first came to the Morewood House in October 2014 to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We've been coming to the Berkshires for years and were looking for a place that was private and pet-friendly. We appreciate the home's history and the owners' attention to detail. The space is so cozy and warm. The kitchen is well appointed, the gas stove provides plenty of heat, and the front yard is fenced - the perfect spot to play fetch with our dog. We can't wait to come back!"

  • Great Girls Weekend

"We had an Excellent Girls weekend at Starry Nite! Beautiful spot, very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. Steve was great to work with and very helpful with my questions. We enjoyed cooking on the grill one night, foliage, shopping, a tour of The Edith Wharton House, enjoyed dinner at Brava in Lenox Sat night, and let's not forget some Kareoke!! What fun!! Rt 20 traffic did not bother me -you can take the back bedrooms if it's a concern. All in all, we had a wonderful time!!"

  • A Wonderful Week

"My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful lakefront house. It was very cozy, was convenient to everything in the Berkshires, and we could hear the music from Tanglewood as we sat on our porch over looking Stockbridge Bowl. I highly recommend it!"

  • Super with one exception

"The owner's description was entirely accurate, as was the exterior photograph. The house has many virtues--large (one enormous) rooms, a large deck overlooking a narrow portion of the Housatonic, which widens near the house; top of the line kitchen appliances and a bathroom whose fabulous shower could accommodate four friendly adults; clear labels on everything--tracklights, rooms, stairways, step-downs from room to room, kitchen cabinet contents, a wide range of kids' toys in a first floor living room w/ metal Franklin?(stove); any and all paper goods, cleansers, picnic provisions, hair dryers--you get the idea--nothing missing but a few vases & a cocktail shaker. Two parking spaces adjacent to house. Terrific! The exception: house is a few doors from a general store w/ outdoor seating. No later than 7 am, often earlier, workers drove up (noisy trucks), had breakfast coffee and LOUD conversations. Second floor bedroom fronts on sidewalk, ergo worker conversations. Friends who stayed one night in a rear bedroom on first floor made the same complaint. Bring industrial strength earplugs and a sense of humor. The owner was entirely helpful re questions. With the caveats of outdoor noise and the many stairs (often step-down single steps into rooms and baths, potentially hazardous for visually impaired or older people), the house is splendid. Except for the above, I'd recommend it to anybody. West Stockbridge is the opposite of Lenox, though nearby. A village of sorts with a few interesting shops and adequate restaurants. In August it celebrates a zucchini festival--old-fashioned, goofy, charming, extensive. It's close to Berkshire Botanical Garden--fabulous--and Norman Rockwell Museum--kitsch--and then there's Stockbridge itself, Lenox, et al. All the music, theatre and dance (Beckett--Jacob's pillow) you could ask for. It's great for families with teenagers because the kids can take over the 1st floor (family room w/ fireplace, games, super-big tv, bath, its own bathroom)-- only drawback--outdoor noise big time. Bring earplugs, watch the indoor single steps, have a dandy experience."
