  • Great family vacation home

"Our family of 11 (6 adults, 5 kids) converged here from OH, VA, and PA for a fabulous week-long vacation. Chatham is a charming town that is easily accessible from this property by car or by bike path. We enjoyed dinners, shopping, ice cream, and running downtown. But we didn't really have to leave this property because our entire family was so perfectly entertained here. The kids played non-stop on the dock and small beach, then took the kayak and canoes out on the calm lake. They were particularly fond of the floating dock which they could swim or row to, and jump off. Giggles and smiles all day. We adults were able to relax on the various decks or in the house while the kids entertained one another. Sunsets on Lover's Lake are gorgeous. This house and property are so unique and charming, the town's original ice house, with its various sitting rooms, beautiful gardens, open kitchen and dining space, plus 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. It's obvious the family who owns this home has spent many wonderful years loving and caring for it, with its antiques, paintings, games and puzzles. And the owner made herself totally accessible to us for any questions, and was interested in making us completely comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern ammenities, and we were offered free wi-fi. If we come back to Cape Cod, we will definitely rent this house again!"

  • What A Beautiful Spot!

"What this unit lacks in overall esthetic, it more than makes up for in charm and location. The fact that it is at the end of the building provides a feeling of privacy and a view that can't be beat. We so enjoyed walking down to the marina at the dead end, along the marsh trails, and kayaking across the inlet to what felt like our own private stretch of beach - gorgeous! The unit itself was tastefully decorated and provided any and all amenities that we could want or need, including beach chairs and towels. This really helped with keeping the packing to a minimum! We had as many as 7 people stay overnight very comfortably and also had the luck of the upstairs unit remaining unoccupied most of the week. But even when someone arrived for the last few days of our stay, all we heard was some floor creaking here and there. Bonnie was super helpful and responsive and if I wasn't getting a new dog, I would definitely rent this again next Summer. This is a very special place!"

  • Prime location in Chatham

"We have stayed in the Gifford Buck apartment at Ship's Light for years. Improvements have been made which make the apartment better, including a new fridge, twin beds in one of the two bedrooms, wifi and updated furniture. The location to Main St. Chatham and its wonderful stores and restaurants couldn't be better and the venue has BBQ's, outdoor eating areas, laundry, parking and bicycle storage aplenty. The only caution I would give to prospective renters is that unless you have very quiet and considerate upstairs neighbours or are a heavy sleeper, you might be disturbed from time to time, morning and evening, by other renters in the house. The stairs to the upper rental units go right by the Gifford Buck apartment bedroom windows and it is likely that the upstairs renters do not realize that when arriving late at night or leaving early in the morning. This is a beautifully maintained old sea captain's house, which won a preservation award 5 years ago, and it's central location and fair pricing are exceptional."

  • Great 4th of July week!

"We had a great stay at this cozy, well equipped cottage. Everything you need is there, even boogie boards! Quiet area- no traffic. Great location to get to all the great spots. Easy walk to small beach, or leisurely walk bike or drive to great beaches as well. Enjoyed breakfast and cocktails and dinner on the deck. Great grilling too! The owners were great to work with as well."
