Magical Home Away from Home
"As first time vacation house renters, the bar is now set very high.
As soon as we entered the house we knew we made the right choice. The house is so charming. Its furnished and decorated beautifully. Cozy and comforting. The art is gorgeous and the light that streams in in the mornings whether upstairs or in the kitchen, is worth waking up early for.
I will admit I wasn't sure about the outside shower, It's not something we used to using. It turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the day. To be outside with the birds chirping overhead and overlooking the garden and the pond in the distance, it was hard to get out sometimes. Which brings me to the garden. WOW Janet. I don't know how she does it all. It's so fabulous. I enjoyed walking the gardens and taking photographs of all the wonderful vignettes.
The grocery store is super close and we filled the refrigerator as soon as we got to town.
We utilized the laundry mat directly across the street and I have to say it's the cleanest laundry mats I have ever been in. And it actually dried the clothes with the correct amount of change (not something we're used to at home).
It was a little noisy one night at the bar across the street but it really didn't bother us a we live in a summer town that gets noisy.
The construction down the road was a bit much but that might even be over already.
The distance to town was perfect. Walkable but yet far enough away from it all.
If we had bikes, which we will bring next time, we could have biked to the beach but we drove.
Janet was so kind and helpful and gave us the most delicious basil infused olive oil that we are still enjoying.
We can't wait to return and are hoping to bring more of our friends with us."

"We couldn't ask for more! Here are some of the highlights of our stay: Low tide at our beach showing the kids how to clam for our dinner. Walks along the shore to the Fish Pier to see the seals and to bring back the freshest lobster and fish n chips. Evening surfcasting and family campfires at our oceanfront under the stars. Endless kayaking, swimming, and boogie-boarding. Walks from our beach to Chatham Bars Inn for cocktails. And, most importantly, a fabulous Cape Cod estate, very classy, with perfect décor, boundless amenities, very clean and welcoming! Everything suited our adventurous family of 19 just perfectly!"

"I booked the Windmill as a surprise present for my wife and took our two year old, having first spent a few days in Boston. I cannot fault the Windmill in terms of its location or position. It's a few minutes walk from Chatham high street where there's enough going on to make it feel that there's something going on and people about (we visited end of October so cant speak about other times). To save repeating other posts - the location is wonderful, on the edge of the water, lovely to look out on during the day and allowing lovely autumn sunsets. Chatham's position on the Cape means it's equidistant from all the key attractions, but has the relaxed pace that make you feel as if you are away.
Being a character property, the stairs are steep and wooden, which our daughter loved but caused us a bit of angst, but what else would you expect from a Windmill. It didnt detract from the stay, just to make others aware. The rest of the windmill is beautifully decorated with enough mod cons to suit 2 (or 2.5) adults.
We also had the pleasure of meeting Stan and Linda, the owners.
Thank you for making our stay at the Windmill such a memorable experience and adding to our holiday. We feel really lucky to have stayed there and hope to visit again. I dont hesitate for a second in recommending the Windmill or the other properties within the plot

"The photos really do not say it all...The house is bright, immaculate, beautifully decorated, and so very comfortable and peaceful. We especially enjoyed the deck, which overlooks the pond, which connects to tidal lagoons and the Nantucket Sound. Coffee in the mornings, drinks in the evening, and dinners on the deck were worth every penny. Our family rented a kayak and enjoyed exploring the adjacent tidal lagoons, and took the kayak out to the private beach and the ocean front. The bird watching opportunities are fantastic. One thing to note: the boat launch is best at high tide, so you are somewhat limited in the best times of day for kayaking. Our family also really enjoyed the ping pong table at the house - a real plus. We also liked being able to access the bike trail just a short trip from the house, as well as being able to bike to awesome ice cream at Schoolhouse and yummy pies as Marion's. Deidre and Frank were wonderful hosts and ready to help if we needed it. I recommend this house without hesitation!"
