  • Great house

"The house is perfect for all weather. You need this on the Cape. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is modern and well-supplied. The setting is ideal. The beach down the street is charming."

  • Why we keep coming back

"Of all the places on the Cape, Wellfleet is the most special. And of all the special places in Wellfleet, this house on Great Pond has become our most treasured. While the house itself is a striking bit of architecture with all the amenities you need, it is also in keeping with its rustic setting. The experience is all about nature and being on the pond. Where else can you step off your deck and take a midnight paddle under a full moon? If you have kids, you can watch them swim out to the dock while preparing dinner in the kitchen. If it's the beach you're after, it's just a mile away. If you want to head to town, you can get there in minutes without having to negotiate Rte. 6. This is the perfect house with responsive, attentive hosts."

  • A home away from home in Harwich!

"Centrally located on the best part of the Cape, this home is perfectly equipped with all the amenities of home, as well as everything you need to enjoy a nice vacation. The living space is clean and comfortable, and is as well furnished as your own house would be. Every detail has been addressed - from the expected things like the kitchen that has any utensil, pot, pan, mug, wine glass, colander, cheese board, bottle opener, etc that you'd ever want, to the unexpected like games for the kids, a fully stocked linen closet, and even a nicely assembled collection of flyers and other propaganda detailing local tourist attractions and restaurants. One of the unexpected surprises was the availability of portable beach chairs and sand pails to take on your trips to the shore! Our family spent 9 days here with grandma and grandpa (and their dog, who was also welcomed by the owner) and had a very pleasurable trip. The home is located off any of the main roads, but routes 28 and 6 are close enough that you're conveniently able to get anywhere on the Cape you want without the hassle of being right on one of the main roads. The house sits on a very quiet street with a well maintained yard, and has a beautiful attached back deck that provided a quiet place to unwind at the end of each day. If you like biking, the bike trail travels just past the back edge of the wooded property and is easily accessible. The owner obviously takes great pride in providing a memorable stay for his guests, and even added small details like a nice bottle of locally produced wine and some beer for our enjoyment. If you can't stand the annoyance of being right in the middle of all the crowds, don't care about being directly ON the beach, and want a relaxing, clean, comfortable house to call home while visiting the Cape, you should give this property a serious look!"

  • Truly A Home Away from Home with Large Heated Inground Pool!

"We are a large group of 3 families with young children. Maggie's cottage is truly a home away from home for us. The cottage was extremely well stocked: apart from the usual that you'd expect to see in a cottage rental, Maggie went out of her way to stock up condiments, plastic bags, paper towels & tissue papers, even shampoos and soaps, you name it! Everything you need in your own home, Maggie got it! The heated pool was a huge hit with the children, we even swam under the stars. One evening we lit up the camp fire in the fire pit, and roasted some marshmallows, our children still talk about that experience even today. The cottage does show some signs of wear, but Maggie’s personal touches throughout the house only add character to it. The cottage is located in a convenient yet very quiet location: about 2 min away from a large Stop & Shop (grocery) store & the beer/liquor store. The historic Chatham is only 15 minutes away. We also saw the most amazing sunset at the Skaket beach, also just 10-12 min away and recommended by Maggie. During low tide our kids loved looking for clams, hermit crabs and horseshoe crabs there! The only reason that I gave this cottage a 4 star is difficulty of payment: Maggie only accepts checks, and being a non-American traveler, I had to go to the bank and get a certified US Dollar bank draft to mail it to Maggie. When she returned my security deposit, it was yet another check to deposit: from USD back to CAD. It would be so much easier if Maggie could accept electronic payments. I was also a bit shocked to receive the rental agreement in an actual mail, in this age a PDF file sent as attachment would make much more sense. That being said, those are small annoyances that didn’t hinder our thorough enjoyment of Maggie’s beautiful cottage."
