Truly A Home Away from Home with Large Heated Inground Pool!
"We are a large group of 3 families with young children. Maggie's cottage is truly a home away from home for us. The cottage was extremely well stocked: apart from the usual that you'd expect to see in a cottage rental, Maggie went out of her way to stock up condiments, plastic bags, paper towels & tissue papers, even shampoos and soaps, you name it! Everything you need in your own home, Maggie got it! The heated pool was a huge hit with the children, we even swam under the stars. One evening we lit up the camp fire in the fire pit, and roasted some marshmallows, our children still talk about that experience even today. The cottage does show some signs of wear, but Maggie’s personal touches throughout the house only add character to it.
The cottage is located in a convenient yet very quiet location: about 2 min away from a large Stop & Shop (grocery) store & the beer/liquor store. The historic Chatham is only 15 minutes away. We also saw the most amazing sunset at the Skaket beach, also just 10-12 min away and recommended by Maggie. During low tide our kids loved looking for clams, hermit crabs and horseshoe crabs there!
The only reason that I gave this cottage a 4 star is difficulty of payment: Maggie only accepts checks, and being a non-American traveler, I had to go to the bank and get a certified US Dollar bank draft to mail it to Maggie. When she returned my security deposit, it was yet another check to deposit: from USD back to CAD. It would be so much easier if Maggie could accept electronic payments. I was also a bit shocked to receive the rental agreement in an actual mail, in this age a PDF file sent as attachment would make much more sense. That being said, those are small annoyances that didn’t hinder our thorough enjoyment of Maggie’s beautiful cottage."

"I've stayed at this lovely home during summer and fall months and both the house and location and perfect for the two seasons. The large and open floor plan on the ground floor makes it easy to stay / entertain inside, the sizable backyard makes a great place for bbq's and having friends over, and the pond is such an added bonus! (the kayaks and canoes were also a plus)
During the summer, the cool breeze off the pond made us very comfortable. The scenery in the fall is well worth the trip. Also worth mentioning is that the house is in the perfect spot to visit Harwich Port, Dennis and Chatham during the day and come back to a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing home.
The owner (Dave) was a pleasure to deal with and took care of all our needs. I would recommend this home to anyone and can't wait for my next trip to Vacation Lane!

"Rented Stepping Stones and the cottage behind it, Pebbles, for my wedding at Wychmere Beach Club over Columbus Day Weekend. Put extended family in the house and me and my wife in Pebbles. Was a perfect combination and gave us the privacy needed but with proximity to family and of course Wychmere. While we didn't spend a ton of time in the main house, my family loved it and it seemed to work well. There were 4 couples and 3 kids. The layout has an abundance of twin and full beds, with only 3 kings/queens, not including the pull out couch, so you'll want to think through the layout since if you have 5 or 6 couples, a few won't be able to sleep in the same bed. The house is huge and spacious and wonderfully equipped. Pebbles was great too! A great gas fireplace, nice bed, kitchen, bathroom, and very charming. My wife got ready here with family and bridesmaids, and we did our first look right across the street at the Wychmere overlook. If you are getting married at Wychmere this is the ideal spot as it's walkable to everything! MaryLynn was wonderful to deal with and made sure we had everything we needed. Such a wonderful stay and so glad we found this house and lucky that it was still available. Book soon! Is also such an affordable and superior option to a hotel or inn."

"I was lucky to stay in this wonderful house in October. The weather was beautiful and it was great to be able to walk down the street to the beach or into town to the shopping and restaurants. The town is quaint with a lot of fun shopping and excellent restaurants. The house itself is charming and comfortable for a large family or group. The updated kitchen was a plus and the large dining table makes for some memorable family meals. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again."
